Hello, this is Mike again, the Dair County Genealogy and History Research Center, Col I wanted to take a few minutes this morning to talk to you about one of our great benefactors and contributors, Mrs. Margie Burris-Coffey. Mrs. Coffey, to those of you who didn't know her, was a school teacher. She taught one-room schools and for many years at the Sparksville Grade Center from the time it opened until she retired. Mrs. Coffey, who didn't have children of her own, had thousands of children because they all loved her just She could be strict, but at the same time she was loving and caring and would do anything in the world for you, and she did that for the rest of her life. And Mrs. Coffey was a great benefactor to the genealogical society and the community as a whole because she was the one person who was clipping old newspapers and filling out family group sheets years before many of the rest of us even started. Mrs. Coffey and her many years of clipping and compiling did n She is the progenitor of the obituary collection that we have here that is multi-vol After her passing, they gave us boxes and boxes of her materials. Were so thankful that it didn't go on the burn pile. We don't want that to happen anywhere. But Mrs. Coffey's collection was tremendous. She made family group sheets for every family she knew that had any connection with her region of Adair County in the South Western part. She had notebooks that she would come in and copy at the library, give us the copies, and we could buy them. She was a true blue Adair County patron. Thank you. Thank you.
