Consignment Furniture and Home Decor
The inspiration behind setting up the design exchange was to have a somewhere on the high street that allowed artists and designers to compete on the high street. What we do is we rent a space to the artists, so they rent either a floor space or a wall space from us, so that covers the costs for all our bills and our staff, and what's left over we've put into a charity to run art workshops for kids. If anybody was looking to go into the launch may process, I would really recommend it. It's quite a lengthy process, but you learn a lot, you meet a lot of people, and actually it gives you a lot of confidence that your business is sound and that you're able to take on this kind of funding and to go through the growth process, which can be quite daunting in any business, never mind a social enterprise.
