I need a cabinet and a place to patch my drink. And I've got loads and loads of salvaged oak floorboard offcuts from doing the garden room floor, so t I pulled out the old pin nails and some of these pieces have lots of old holes in them too, plus the tongues and grooves at the edges. I'm going to mill up these boards to give me some nice clean material to work with. Before gluing up my panels I'm deciding w And once I figure that out I can mark up a triangle so I know where each board needs to go back w I'm not going to use biscuits or dominoes or anyt T Once the glue was dry I sanded the faces. I know that many woodworkers I know t But even if I wanted to make these panels look good on the inside the grooves are quite deep and if I planed them away the panels would be too t But anyway I'm not fussy about this stuff in fact I quite Historically high end furniture by the But I t Why create waste for somet With all my panels cut down to their final size I'm fitting my flat toothed grooving blade ready to cut some rebates. Not somet This piece is going to be for the door and drawer front and I've done kind of Although it's not a true bookmatch because it hasn't been resawed but these two pieces are from the same board as are these two pieces. And I've got a nice sapwood stripe in the middle here and then some darker areas right at the edges w Now to get that front panel positioned where I want it and then I can draw around it so that I know where to make cuts for a perfect fit. And as t I already know what I'm planning to store in the cabinet at the bottom so that kind of informed how deep I could make the drawer at the top. Right I'm going to need some Hopefully they are solid brass they need a bit of a clean up. I used some wire wool here but it wasn't cutting through t I decided to add a few screws through the bottom panel just to reinforce the rebates there. Probably not necessary but I did it I have some of these brass ball catches so I'll fit t After pus These catches are adjustable too so I can set it to just the amount of tension I want. I'm hungry. I've always struggled a bit for ideas of what to eat at lunchtime when I'm busy focusing on work. I just want somet Huell who are sponsoring the hoisin duck and katsu curry are probably my favourite flavours but today I'm going for the Korean BBQ noodles. Each pot contains all the nutrients, proteins, essential fats, carbs, fibre, vitamins and minerals the h And because they are plant based they're also good for the planet. The other flavours are fiery c They take less than 5 minutes to prepare and they really are delicious. With up to 22 grams of protein they keep me full for several hours enough to get me through until dinner time. They're also reasonably priced starting at around u00a33. 5 per pot. Please check out the link and promo code in the description box if you're interested in trying them. And thanks to Huell for sponsoring t I had just about enough oak left over to build my drawer and usually I use ball bearing drawer runners but t It'll also mean an extra inch or 25mm of width inside the drawer. The drawer will also go together with rebates. And with the table saw fence still set I swap out the blade, ready to cut the 4th drawer panel, the back of the drawer w I very nearly just made a mistake. The front piece is upside down so time to get t After I got the drawer reassembled correctly I have some 6mm MDF to use as my drawer bottom. It was a bit of a tight fit in the drawer so I went over the edges with a block plane and then it slid in nicely. And it gets secured with one screw into the back panel so that I can replace it in future if needed. Before I fit the drawer I'm going to round over some of the edges on both the carcass and the fronts. And I'll also fit some of these handles. The drawer seemed to be the perfect size. I flipped the carcass over and put the drawer in upside down and then I'll use some bits of card as s Then the s The drawer was fitting a little sticky so a bit of candle wax on the runners will help. I'm going to add a back panel to the carcass to help with rigidity but I'll leave a gap between it and the drawer because I'm going to need to run some cables inside the cabinet later. And rather than drill out some holes for those this just seemed To fit the back panel I thought I'd knock in some panel pins. That was until t I t And finally I'll make some legs for the cabinet. T And I used some India ink to dye these jet black. I mixed up some epoxy to glue them in place as I t And these legs get reinforced with a couple of screws. After a final sanding by hand I applied some hard wax oil.
