We are a proud part of El Paso history Regis Bernard Furniture Store began in the early 1950's when founder Irvin Nadler peddled general merchandise door to door in the El Paso neighborhoods on credit. Mr. Nadler would pay weekly visits to each of his customers and they would make payments on account with him. Customers didn't always have the cash they needed to purchase the merchandise they needed and Irvin would accept payments over time, some payments would be as little as 50 cents. Over the years Mr. Nadler developed a great reputation with his customer base in El Paso. He gained his customers loyalty because he respected his customers and dealt with them honestly. In return Irvin was respected and well-liked by his customers for his great service and fair priced products. Irvin's door to door business grew and he went from just selling clothes and shoes to linoleum floors to appliances. In 1957 Irvin Nadler found an empty store located in downtown El Paso and decided to open a Furniture store that also sold Appliances and Electronics. When Irvin opened his store on 304 S. Stanton Street, Regis Furniture Company was born. He visited all of his customers and told them that he was no longer going to see them door to door that they had to come to his new store in downtown El Paso. His customers gladly did and Regis Furniture Company began to grow. In 1965 a new opportunity arose for Mr. Nadler. Irvin's good friend Morris Bernard, who owned Bernard Furniture located across the street to Regis Furniture, wanted to retire. Irvin bought Bernard Furniture and merged the names to provide continuity for the customers and thus the name Regis Bernard Furniture came to be. The company has remained part the history of El Paso, TX. The new Regis Bernard Furniture showroom at 1446 N. Lee Trevino was constructed in 1997 and at the time was quoted as "the most beautiful furniture showroom this side of the Mississippi." Nowadays, Irvin's sons Gary and Lee Nadler are following in the footsteps of their father, adopting his philosophy and work ethic. The tradition of superior customer service, being in touch with the needs of the community, and insisting that 'the most important person in the store is the customer' continues to be the bedrock of our business philosophy. El Paso is a city unlike any other city and with the changes in technology and business climate, the realization that El Paso is 'a city of loyalties' continues to be the underpinning of strong relationships and commitment that will never change. This commitment has made Regis Bernard Furniture what it is today: an organization with an uncompromising commitment to customer service.
