Target East Palo Alto CA

All right, hello everybody. Welcome to another video today. My name is Chris and it was just announced two days ago that this Target department store located at the Gate 101 Center in East Palo Alto, California will be shutting down in September of 2024. So this is the article itself. Target is shutting down the East Palo Alto store. The company confirmed to F-Skate on Tuesday, setting prolonged underperformance in a statement to escape Joe Unger of Target's book expression said that the decision came after much consideration. This is of course the BS statement. The store is slated to close for good on September 28th in a closed Facebook group for East Palo Alto residents. One post was said they worked at Target said that employees were informed Monday of the closure. The shuttering of the East Palo Alto location follows in wake of three other Bay Area Target closures in September. At the time, Target cited retail crime as the reason for closing the stores in San Francisco, Oakland and Pittsburgh. The closure has raised alarms about food accessibility in the East Palo Alto community. Residents in the Facebook group expressed concerns about the lack of grocery options in the East and East Palo Alto has historically been considered a food desert by the United States Department of Agriculture. The store is a popular location for purchasing back to school items for Stanford University students as closing in a few days after the new school year starts falling in the closure. The closest targets will be Mountain Valley and Redwood City. I guess this doesn't come as a surprise. Again, this traces back unfortunately as another department store. I don't know if you even call this a department store because it's But yeah, I guess it can be categorized specifically in the department store category. Once again, this store falling victim to California's types of laws on different types of theft. So again, Target shutting down at Gateway 101 Center in East Palo Alto, California, September of 2014. I'm not sure how many people are getting chosen to get severance packages, but I would imagine not all of them will be transferred. So I'm sure some of them will be given some sort of severance following the closure of this. It's probably going to be a pretty quick two month. I mean, they just want to get out of here at this point. So I'd imagine that they're going to start selling some stuff beginning in August. There's really nothing special about this particular Target store. Nothing really that stands out. It's just a very basic tiny little Target store next to a Nordstrom rack and a Home Depot. So we're not really going to go over it because there's not really a whole lot to look at. It's, I mean, There's not really much to elaborate or say the Starbucks obviously will close within the Target. And if there's a CVS pharmacy, that's also going to close as well.
