This is Gary Atencio with CNTV and today we're in Denver, Colorado. We are at Lush Life Consigned Furnishings. Since 2011 they have been providing experienced home treasures and small pleasures for the folks here of Denver. I'm here with the owner and founder Heidi, thank you so much for joining us. Let'start off first of all, family owned and operated. How did you get involved in this line of work? It is family owned and operated. I started with my mother in 2011. I've always had a passion for home furnishings and I saw a need in Denver for an eclectic small mix of home furnishings and accessories. Let me ask you, obviously the beauty of good quality home furnishings is that it lasts, it's built to last. Is that why the store has been able to succeed and flourish as it is? We're very picky about what we take in and it really helps to keep the inventory high end and people know us for that. We don'take any junk. Excellent. Not only are we talking about good quality here under one roof, but quite honestly it's good for the pocketbook as well. Share with us some of the pricing difference compared to that of buying new. The general rule for consignment is about 60% of retail. You can find really good deals, things that are gently used, brand new almost and pay a fraction of the cost. Wonderful. So we're talking about good quality, we're talking good for the pocketbook. One of the best things I love about a consignment store is it's actually good for the environment. Explain for us why that is. Well, it's recycling furniture before it goes to a d It comes here and it can find a second home before it's disposed of. Excellent. So we're talking about what fun or way to do recycling I mean, it's kind of nice that if you'resizing or downsizing or basically redirecting, you're not throwing that stuff away, but actually people are getting more use out of it because it still has a lot of years left in it. Yes, that's true. And it gives the consignors an opportunity to make some money back on their nice furniture. Excellent. Let'start off first of all, I see you have quite a bit of inventory under one roof here. Let'start off first of all with a front room. Things we're going to find, you got sofas, you got sofa sets, as well as end tables that go with it. Share with us a little bit what you have in the way of furniture for a front room. For a front room, we have lots of upholstery, sofas, side chairs, accessories, lamps, lots of lamps. And just fun little knickknacks that people can choose to make their place a little bit. Obviously, I see also you have dining room sets. What's kind of cool about this is we're talking about some very unique items. So it's not stuff you're going to find just down the street, it's kind of neat. Yes, it is. We have dining room sets and also some odds and end chairs so you could really mix and match and make it personal. As far as the major furniture I see around me, what's nice about it is you have a lot of accessories that really complement this furniture. Is it kind of fun going through people'stuff and basically being picky about what goes on the shelf? It is. It sure is. I've become very tough in the process and I'm not afraid to say no to things that I don'think will sell. But it's really fun. It's exciting. Excellent. One of the things I see here, not only are we talking about what goes in the room but actually what goes on the room. I see some art around me. I see some paintings. And I also see some rugs that you have available to basically offset any type of furniture. We do. We have rugs, a lot of original art as well as poster art or prints and we feature a few local artists which is really fun. One of the things that opens up a room quite a bit is that of a mirror. I see you not only have mirrors for the wall but you even have some of the furniture is mirrored. And a lot of this furniture really seems to be almost antiques. Is that kind of what you find people bring in from time to time? We're located on Antique Row so most of the other stores handle antiques but we do gently use newer contemporary furniture. Yes and occasionally we do have antiques. It just depends on the day you get here. That's what I mean quite honestly folks take a look at the website but honestly your gallery changes all the time because you never know if it's going to stay there. The best thing for to do is people to browse in check it out and you never know what your inventory is going to change. As we move into the bedrooms you have some bedroom sets here I see as well not only for adults but even have some children's furniture as well. Yes we do. Bedroom sets sell And you're talking about the dressers that come with them as well. These times come as sets but you can also kind of mix and match into what you want. Yeah often they come as sets but we'll sell them separately so if you just needed one piece to accompany another that's how we do it. It's one of the things that folks I mean you never know what you're going to find and so therefore people are basically enjoying the process of actually looking around. Yes it is a treasure hunt and we have a lot of regular customers that come on a weekly if not bi-weekly basis because it's a new store every time. A new store every time I Folks take a look at the bottom of the screen. What you're going to see is their website. On the website you're going to get a clearer idea of some of the types of furniture they're able to bring on consignment. Keep in mind we're talking about every room in the house really but also remember when you bring something in make sure it's of good quality because honestly she's making sure to live up to a standard. They started here in 2011 and basically their customers are thankful for that. You'll also get an idea to what kind of rates are charged for the consignment and so instead of throwing that great piece of furniture away why not bring it in. Do something great for the environment at the same time do something great for your pocketbook. Speaking of folks out there that are looking at consigning share with us a little bit how that works. I mean do they bring it in first. Do they bring a photo. What do you For smaller accessories bringing it by works just fine. If it's a larger piece we appreciate a photo emailed and then we'll go from there on the process. Excellent. So basically as a family owned company you pretty much have a full control of whatever hits the floor goes on the wall and have your customers. What kind of response have you gotten back in a couple years here. We are customers love it. They tell us for their favorite consignment store and Obviously for folks out there looking to get some from for the home share with us your hours. We're open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a. m. till 5 p. m. and Sunday from 12 to 4. During those times are those the times you're available as well to take a look at people's items. Yes we are always available for taking new items in. We prefer it during the week if you're going to drive by with a trunk full of treasures because we're a little slower than the weekends are so packed that it's difficult to do both. Excellent. It's a great way to recycle and take care of the earth if you will at the same time. You're able to get some great bargains on name brand furniture. And we're talking about name brand that you've got here and right now we're scrolling across the screen. Some of those name brands are able to check out.
