Courts Caribbean
Courts Caribbean was founded in 1850, with only one store in England. The company was established in the region since 1959, and is the Caribbean’s largest furniture, appliance and electrical retailer. Courts is well known throughout the Caribbean, and its name is synonymous with quality, affordable furniture and appliances, flexible credit options as well as innovative marketing promotions. The company has been a market leader since its inception and its bright yellow, red and blue buildings dominate major towns across the many Caribbean islands.
Courts Caribbean, now part of the Unicommer Group, has come to Brooklyn, New York. The Caribbean furniture electronics and appliance giant celebrated the opening of its first North American location in Brooklyn on October 30th, with fanfare and enthusiasm. MC Bobby Vera helped kick off the celebration at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, where dozens of VIPs gathered for the presentation reception that featured Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs in the Mayor's Office Guillermo Linares, Yvonne Graham, Special Assistant to Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Consuls Generals of Barbados, Grenada Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, our friends in the media, suppliers and Unicommer executives. Something positive added to the celebration, while Yvonne Graham presented a proclamation to officials from the Borough President, declaring Thursday October 30th, Courts Caribbean Grand Opening Celebration Day in Brooklyn, USA. The celebration then moved to the new store at 2822 Church Avenue in Brooklyn, between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues. Guests were shuttled to the location, now to 94 Courts Caribbean store on the Unicommer map. There they were treated to the sweet sounds of the Casem Steele Orchestra, while feasting on Caribbean delicacies provided by Jackie's catering and toasting with Appleton blends of r Guests ooed an ad at the new location, Annette's Decor, while Deacon Roy George led the blessing of the store. Elected officials were also on hand for the ceremony, welcoming Courts Caribbean to Brooklyn officially, while members of the New York Police Department turned out in full n With the media guests and officials watching, Unicommer CEO Mario Semen and Country Manager Felix Semen joined other staffers in cutting the ribbon to declare the 2822 Church Avenue location officially open. Casem Steele Orchestra then celebrated the moment with a Caribbean rendition. It marked a fitting end to an evening that was truly spectacular and left an indelible print on the minds of all invitees.
