quality antiques and unique antique furniture, fireplace mantels, pier mirrors, large cupboards, vintage collectibles, glassware, fishing, truly an antique store...not a typical junk market, garage sale store that claims to be antiques.
Rich Wilcox is a firm believer that some things are better the second time around. So when he got the chance to start a new career in June of 2011, he j I've always wanted to have my own business. And I found the opportunity here to get our foot in the door and we're running with it. Wilcox purchased the business with his wife, Rosemary, who has a passion for antiques. She's been a collector. That's a nice term. She's been a collector, yes. He didn't say hoarder, he said collector. Right. When they first purchased the business, it sold mostly clothes. They decided to shift their inventory to antiques and collectibles and dub the store the second time around consignment shop. It's a very eclectic mix. So if you collect anything, it's probably here. The items you'll find it second time around are brought in by people with the profit being split among them and Wilcox. We do a 50-50 split with them. We set the prices. We determine what it's going to sell for because we're going to research it and price it to sell in Young South. Our consignors are on a 90-day term. If within 90 days their item doesn't sell, they can come get it. And Wilcox has some pretty off-the-wall items. This is a metal piece of art that has a lot of detail. Art. I consider it art. Somebody had to make it. It's all quarter-inch metal. It's got a lot of detail. The frets, affectionately known around the store, is Guitar Man. And Guitar Man wants to be saved. You want somebody, you're trying to sell Guitar Man. Oh, Guitar Man is for sale, yes. Does Guitar Man come with any kind of tetanus shot discount? It's a possibility. This is a chair that has the Ohio State emblem on it. It's a rocking chair. It was handmade by Mennonites down in Col It is a solid piece of furniture that was custom-built for some taller gentlemen. It actually sits, but I can tell you from experience that it's a great place to take a nap in the afternoon. Wilcox says one of the benefits of shopping at his store is that the owner is always there. If you come in here and you want to negotiate price, I'myself or my wife are the two that you have to negotiate with. We don't have to call anybody to give permission. Second Time Around is also offering a special discount for anyone who makes six purchases. We'll add the total of the six purchases up and then they will get a 10% store credit for whatever that total is. So if you're looking to give a special item a second chance and you're on Mahoning Avenue in Austin Town, stop in and see Rich and Rose Mary. We're the ones with the stuff out front. We tell people we're at 4954 Mahoning. We're right across the street from Denny's. It's the little red and white house. Second Time Around For The Daily Buzz, I'michael Moleterno.
