Something our clients are often asking about is what type of countertop to use for lasting durability. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to research every option. So I'm going to share with you my five favorite materials to use for both durability and style. Now first off I'm going to talk about marble and that's not necessarily because we use it the most. It's probably the most loved you might see in magazines and in parade homes. It's beautiful, has a lot of beautiful movement and coloring and that's why everyone loves marble. Of course the downside of marble is that it is porous and with a busy household with children it's not always the most durable option to use especially in a kitchen. Marble is definitely the prettiest and it is a timeless look if that's what you're going for but just be sure that Marble can be great to use as an accent in a bathroom especially a powder bath when you want to have a lot of impact and have something that you enjoy. It's also a great place for a remnant so you can save a little bit of money. The other drawback of marble is the cost. Sometimes it can be expensive so it is great to use in an accent maybe on an island or another feature in your kitchen or in your home so you can save money and still have durability as well with an additional countertop. Now if you do want to use marble sometimes we will use a product HydraShield products will protect the marble from staining and etching. Now quartzite is probably our most beloved countertop and that's because it is very durable, it's non-porous and it can be more heat resistant so it's great to use in a kitchen. Of course the drawback to a quartzite would be the cost. It is one of the more expensive options but do understand that there are a wide variety of quartzites some more expensive and some less expensive. If you are trying to cut costs in your home quartzite can be great to use either on the island or in the perimeter and that way you can still get the beautiful and functional qualities of the quartzite without spending as much money. If possible quartzite is definitely our favorite countertop to use in a kitchen with a busy household. Now quartz is not to be confused with quartzite. Now a quartz material is a man-made material. It has some aspects and literally some natural materials in the quartz mixed with man-made materials so it makes it a great option for really everywhere in the house. We most often use quartz in laundry rooms and bathrooms. Now quartz also has a wide variety of price points. We love using either a concrete look quartz or a white quartz in a laundry room or a bathroom. It can give that really fresh or more modern look.
