Defining Home

Hi, my name is Ellie and I moved from my home in Maine. Being in a new area isn't easy. You do the same routines, yet everything feels different. You walk down the road and instantly don't know where you are. Just laying in your bed doesn't feel right. You try to go home, but you don't know where that is. You get in your car and push go home in your GPS, but you go the opposite direction. Yet you still arrived. Home. I grew up in Maine. I had friends. My house. Even my school was a big part of me. When I found out I was moving, everything felt And I was alone. It was hard. Saying goodbye was definitely the hardest part. I had so many memories with my friends and little did I know, those could be the last. Was I ever going to see them again? When the day came that I had to say goodbye, it almost didn't feel real. I felt How quick was I wrong? When it was time to go, took one last look at that house, and soon enough everything was behind us. When we finally arrived, it felt I didn't know which drawers had what in it. Didn't see why I would typically put my things. It didn't even smell I tried my best to make it the same. Tried to add something to remind me of home. I even made sure I would always remember home. But it will always be different. The real question is when does a place become your home? When does everything feel normal? The truth is, it will never be the same as it was. However, you start to define a new meaning for the word home. You start creating a new look, a new smell, a new world that you could never could imagine. The people that were once strangers are not the first people you go to. The places that you have never seen before become your new favorite places. You became more. You make new friends, new memories, new skills. Your life may have seemed But that just opened new doors you never knew were there. You're going to be okay. And eventually, your original home will find its way back to you, even if it's in pieces.
