Build custom furniture using reclaimed wood products.
Woodworking is a very old trade and craft and it's been around since the beginning of time. And you'd think that woodworking wouldn't be interdependent on technology, but it's the opposite. So many of the barns in historic buildings across our country are being torn down and are lost to time. And we're talking about tons and tons of history that's being thrown into landfills. And now we're able to save some of that. In fact, some of this wood that I'm sitting on is over 115 years old. And if I hadn't been online, chances are I wouldn't have been able to access this wood. And now instead of ending up in a landfill, lost to history, it gets very repurposed, turned into heirloom quality furniture and passed on from generation to generation. Because of technology, as soon as I'm done, let'say demoing out an old barn, I can immediately respond to clients. I can give updates on the blog. I can go home and snap a photo where I'm at in the middle of a project and send it out to a client so they're up to speed on what's going on. Because of social media, we've been able to network with other artists and craftsmen in the community. For example, there was an artist across town who just so happened to have a ton of instr And were able to pick it up, repurpose, reuse it, and create cutting boards just in time for the holidays. I've got my office in my pocket. I can check invoices, get updates on where things are at shipping-wise. The mobility factor is a game changer for a small business owner.
