It's a new year and many of us are thinking about refreshing and re-duvenating our lifestyle, but take a moment to look around your home. Does it need help? If so, now is a good time to refresh the rooms in your house as well. With me now is Steve Appel, co-owner of Nuvo Home and Interior Design, a Baltimore-based home furniture and accessory store that has been serving local customers for more than 30 years. Steve, welcome. Hi, thank you very much for having me. We're so excited to have you. Thank you. How about your business? We are a furniture store downtown on West Eager Street, 10 West Eager. We are a furniture store first and then we became an interior design business about 15 years ago. And you said now is the right time to take advantage of interior design businesses and refresh your home. How do we do that? It feels sometimes a little overwhelming. What do you tell those customers? I tell them to breathe. I tell them to, Yes. A lot of times you can go from room to room in your home and just actually pick some things out and change them around. Try them in other spaces. You can also freshen up your home with new pieces, other things So let's walk me through what you have here on the table here. I know that you were talking about color and texture and these are prime examples. They are. Beautiful lamb has color and texture. It's made with a silk shade. This all ties into Here we have gold and texture, a little bling. This is where we have some really beautiful accessories in case you need to bring something fresh to That's what I was going to, because this is very tall. This would be Yeah. If you need something just to give the room more depth and more height, then that's definitely a good piece to use. Yeah, it's beautiful. We also have wallpaper, which has made a huge comeback in the last seven to 10 years. And the quality of wallpaper is really cool. If you feel this, you can feel the texture. This is an Art Deco reproduced paper, which we actually have in our design studio. They also make this incredible paper that looks And that we also, you can also And you say safe because it's a smaller space. So if you're trying to get outside of your comfort zone, that's a good place to sort of experiment a little bit. It really is. A lot of times when people get into a new home, they're so excited, they want to just rip everything down and start all over. And that takes budgets, that takes some thinking. So if you start with something small, And you said this is for every single generation from baby boomers to millennials, whether you're in a single family home or an apartment. How is it so versatile? True. It's really okay. People are very afraid of color. And I think it's important to not be afraid of anything as far as interior design. Go with your gut. Know what you don't Do not be talked into something by a professional or somewhat professional that says you need to have this in your home. If that'something you don't Got it. Got it. I love this.
