Sachi Organics is a family-run, pillow, mattress and bedding company. The business began in 1981 with our mother making futons and pillows.
First we started making furtunes. Back in the 80s, furtunes were very popular with the university crowd. So I made them at home. We started with one bill of cotton. It took three days actually to make a casing. I did it over and over again. I ripped it out, did it again, did it again. Finally, I came upon the measurements that worked. We still use those same measurements today. And all along the way, we've tried to nurture and to cultivate actually a kind of a sense of doing something that makes us feel good and makes our customers happy and makes them feel well served. And that's how new products are developed. And what has really helped all along the way is that people have been so kind to us. Suppliers have just appeared or people have given me the names of suppliers. I think when you are earnestly searching for something and trying to achieve something, people recognize that and they want to be part of it. So that has been our story all along the way. And from the cottage, went to a store.
