Feedback Hi, welcome to the Coastal Arts Center. My name is Desiree Blackwell and I'm the director here. Come on in. Inside is our beautiful art from around the area and we are proud to offer the grounds for weddings and special events including our big festival of art that's every March. The Coastal Arts Center is actually sitting on the property of what was once the first hotel that was ever built in Orange Beach. It was built in 1923 and was boarding house style for the man who worked in the truck and tire industry here. But when we had to take down the old house which was the first art gallery here in the area it was heartbreak for everyone in the city. They really hated to see the old building go but when we designed the new building we paid respect to the look of the old building and that is why we have the beautiful white col The last owners of the building loved matches and had added that look to the front in 1974 and so we wanted to keep that but inside we have this beautiful multi-use space. On our campus we feature several studios including the hot shop for hot glass blowing. It's the premier glass blowing facility in Alabama our Clay Studio and our Children's Art Studio. Hello good to talk to you my name is Dan Rush I work here at the Coastal Arts Center in the hot shop. Kerry Parks our lead glassblower and Aathan Martin. We're here every day Monday through Friday and we'd be glad to have you come by and visit with us shop around and maybe even take your class before to seeing you. So if you come into the Coastal Arts Center for a class we do classes on Monday Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays. Right now you can make a starfish you can make a flower or a paperweight. You get to choose the colors we'll demonstrate how it works we'll help you make the project and then come back the next day and pick it up. It's $85 and a great experience.
