Okay, everyone, I wanted to j I have a couple of sitting chairs in my living room in an ottoman here that are super dirty. We've had them for over a year and haven't So I'm going to show you what products I used to get a really good thorough clean. Just as a little bit of a background, my family owned a professional carpet and upholstery cleaning company as I was growing up. And so I've literally been in hundreds of home cleaning upholstery because that was So I know the right products to use that are not going to damage fabric and good method to follow when you're cleaning upholstery. So with that, let me show you what I'm going to use. I have these chairs here that we love except they, So I'm going to be using mostly things that you probably have around your home to clean them and it's very effective. First thing I'm going to do is I have So I'm going to spray everything, including getting extra wet. These areas that are have a little bit extra soil. Okay, everything is sufficiently wet. Next, I'm going to have another squirt bottle that I've filled about a third of the way with this and this is a stain remover. It's not a detergent so it suds is less, but it does have hydrogen peroxide in it. So I'm not going to let it dry on the fabric. Otherwise, it will lighten it, but it works great for when diluted, it works great as an upholstery cleaner. I'm just going to spray mainly the areas that are dirtiest. So I just picked up these painters rags. They're 100% cotton, they'really absorbent and they're great for this type of job. And I'm just going to scrub all the areas that I just sprayed with that stain remover. And don't worry if it looks white at first as you're kind of working up that product into the fabric. So you're going to want to see how the dirt is coming up. You're going to want to switch parts of the rag as you go and spend extra time on any areas that have spots. Once you have one rag, So that's why I have a pile here of several. These aren't very thick so they kind of get saturated with dirt easily. But you want to make sure to keep switching parts of the rag so you're not You can adjust the spray of the nozzle so as the tighter it's closed the more of a mist of a spray is. And so I'm going to do that on the back to give a little bit of that cleaning solution just evenly distributed on the seat back. Now I've emptied out the bottle that I had just hot water in it and I'm going to put about a cup of sparkling water and a half a cup of white vinegar. And then I'm going to spray that on the fabric. So what this sparkling water does is it gets it's carbonated so it gets into the fabric and it brings up any deeper dirt but also that stain remover that kind of sets up and soaks in. It's going to bring that to the surface as well and the vinegar is going to break it down so it's no longer sudsy and so then when I scrub it one more time with clean rags it will leave the surface of the fabric residue free so it won't attract dirt. This is the kind of dirt that I'm getting up. After I had cleaned it with several rags using the different sprays and stuff I mean I was getting up a fair amount of dirt here and I sprayed it with a carbonated solution and I'm still getting up dirt so I'm going to keep on going over it until the white rags are pretty much clean. So this is how I'm scrubbing just kind of back and forth This ottoman I just did the same process of cleaning with both sprays and it's dried completely. It looks tons better but as you can see it's peeling on the surface. So I'm going to use this lint trimmer and work in circular motions to trim off all of the little pieces of work. Look at that. As you can see all the peeling is trimmed off. It looks practically brand new and yeah it's ready to be protected now. I've covered the area with just some scrap fabric to protect it and now I'm going to spray it with the Scotchgard fabric protector. So you hold it about six inches away from the surface and you just kind of spray lightly to say it's better to do two light coats than it is to do one heavy coat. And I'll let that dry and do another coat. Here is the other chair now fully cleaned, dried and has two coats of Scotchgard on it. You can see the dirty areas came out. It looks fantastic and this fabric doesn't really have much peeling otherwise I would shave it So that is how you clean a bolstery.
