Back in 2008, when I decided to come out to New York, I really wanted to create the best frozen dessert experience. Choi launched 16 Handles in 2008. It was New York City's first self-serve frozen yogurt shop. The business grew to more than 40 locations internationally. In March of 2023, Choi revealed that he sold the company during the pandemic in 2022. In a statement obtained by Access Hollywood, current CEO Neil Hirschman says, quote, we are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of 16 Handles founder and former CEO Solomon Choi. He was a visionary who came to New York City in his 20s and founded this iconic frozen dessert brand. 16 Handles is where I got my personal start and franchising and I owe so much to Solomon for the opportunities, education, mentorship, and friendship he provided me throughout the years. Part of the mission statement for 16 Handles is to create moments of happiness, and Solomon truly embodied this in his personal and professional life, always sporting a big smile and optimistic outlook. In videos on the company's YouTube channel, the former CEO can be seen having fun creating different and sometimes weird flavored frozen yogurts. We had some fun last week making that Sriracha Froyo, and I hope you enjoyed the reaction that we got from some of our teammates here. I love it so much, I'm crying. So not sure if you heard on the news, but Kraft and Highton So that's what we want to do today. Let's merge Kraft and Highton. Solomon leaves behind wife Hannah and two young children ages seven and four. According to the obituary, the young couple met in 2015 and were quickly engaged 85 days later, marrying six months after they met. The obit reads in part, quote, he was committed to loving his wife and children to the best of his ability and will be remembered as the world's best husband and daddy.
