Yogurtland

Making a bad day good, and a good day great!

The retail world of frozen yogurt is highly competitive, but our next-guest company has kept their brand strong by staying true to the two principles that the company was founded on back in 2006. Choice and quality. Here from Yogurtland and joining us in studio is VP of brand management, Craig Takiguchi. Craig, welcome. Hi, thank you for having me. Craig, what makes Yogurtland unique in the highly competitive world of retail frozen yogurt? How have you been able to maintain your brand leadership? I think it goes back to how we began the business. It's really our business philosophy. We always look to provide value, choice and quality in everything that we do. So for an example, the backbone of our business, I believe we're the only ones in our industry that own our own factory, our own testing lab in terms of product development and flavor innovation. And ultimately, what we So what about in regards to franchise development? You've grown very fast and it seems you have your pick of potential franchisees. How have you distinguished yourselves in that category? Again, I think it's being consistent and holding discipline to value. We always look to provide value to our franchisees and I think that'something that really resonates with them. We're constantly re-engineering our startup model, making sure that it is something that is very efficient, cost effective for them. And then we're also very mindful of who we bring into our system. We want to make sure that business philosophy is the same in everything that we do. Craig, what's your vision for the future of the industry? Where do you see yogurt land five years from now? I see the market maturing. Most of the industry, I think of the customers in general, see frozen yogurt as more of a dessert. If you actually go back in history, yogurt has seen more as a meal replacement. So the market is really big. We're talking about over $70 billion around the world. We think there's a lot of room for growth there. But again, if we stick to our core values, I think there's a lot of ways that we can extend the brand beyond just a meal replacement. I mean, there are a lot of healthier concepts that we can actually take with it. Well, Craig, thanks so much for speaking with us today. Thank you for having me. That was Craig Takiguchi.
