Habitat Home Store

The Habitat Home Store supports Sarpy County Habitat for Humanity by selling those special items that have been gently used but still have lots of life!!!!

Well, it's always a treasure hunt when you come to a thrift store. We're at Habitat's Restore today in Nashville. And you would expect to find something Well, that's the thing about this store is you never know what you're gonna find. This is Habitat's home store and they sell all these donated everything that you can imagine and all the money goes to build Habitat houses. Of course Mayor Hans-Miss Cheep loves this place. I do and I love the treasure hunt aspect of it. Normally in this store, this is the one on 8th Avenue, is there's furniture, there's home furnishing, there'some books, lots of good stuff, and then there's a second store too. So you have to go to both of them, but they're right around the corner from each other, so it's pretty easy to do. We'll check that one out in just a minute. Let's check the price on this. If you need a personal flotation device for your family, it's $500, but the thing is that something Everything in here, the prices are marked that if it's two weeks, if it's here, it goes 25%, if it goes to four weeks, it's half. So if this starts out at 500, you might could get it for 250 if you're patient and if you're lucky. Some of the best deals in the place, I think, are on the furniture. Well, they are and They've got all kind of chairs, everything from a $5 chair on up to hundreds. So they're good deals, but some of this stuff is donated by stores So you find things that are brand new and then you find things that are gently used and then some things that are more used. So you've got to really look, But one of the coolest things was the antiques. Antique dealer donated everything that was in her shop and so they're selling all of that. They got the cases and everything and those prices are a lot less than what her lowest markdown was when she closed. We made the short drive over to Division Street where the building materials part of the restore, home store is and we found some incredible things. Well, this is the true building materials side of the business and as you can see, I mean, this island, this is amazing. I don'think I've ever seen an island this big. But what happens is that somebody is remodeling a kitchen and they want to get rid of all the stuff that they're going to replace it with and they donate it to the home store. Habitat will come and get it. So, Somebody's getting a great deal here and I guess the people get a nice write-off too. So it works really well for everybody. Yeah, there are lots of different sets of kitchen cabinets here and they'll run anywhere between, Right, but there were plenty in here for $1,200, $1,400 for a whole set of cabinets that you could paint or, They said they sell a lot of toilets, a lot of doors, a lot of window sashes. Paint, the paint was a great deal at $10 a gallon. I mean, this is the kind of place for do-it-yourselfers or for people who want a great deal. And I just think this is a wonderful thing. The money goes to build Habitat houses. So everybody wins on this one. Yeah, we win all the way around. All right, so the two locations then. One is on 8th Avenue, the first one. And this one's on Division and they really are just around the corner from each other. They really generate a lot of money for Habitat. So shop here and donate and enjoy. Yeah, it's a great place to save money for you and know that you're helping your great cause at the same time. Mary, thanks so much. Thanks, stay cheap.
