Dollar Tree

Everything is $1 or Less!

Dollar Tree is North America's largest single price point retailer for party, household & cleaning supplies, as well as home decor & seasonal products. Everything is $1 or less!

Well, If you're new here, welcome. I'm Dr. Dre. I'm a board certified dermatologist and I can ask all the time, is it worth it to buy skincare products from the Dollar Tree? Are they legit? And a lot of You're curious how those price changes might impact the quality of skincare and maybe other beauty products that you typically look for at the Dollar Tree. Today, we're going to break all of that down because there is quite a bit coming at the DT. First, you all who shop there, you already know this, it's nothing new. The Dollar Tree is no longer a dollar store. They have been shifting away from the dollar price point. The move away from the one dollar is not new. Dollar Tree up shifted their price to a dollar 25 back in 2021. And since then, the company has just gradually been sneaking in higher priced items here and there. Many stores now carry items that are $3, $5, even $7. This is no temporary price hike. This represents the future direction of Dollar Tree. They're intentionally shifting towards a multi price model. That shift is definitely expected to continue and to expand throughout 2026. So gone are the days where we could just ass No, that is a thing in the past. It's more accurate to simply view it as a discount store that offers a wide range of price points, including for skincare products. What specifically is changing though in 2026? Well, according to recent reports, Dollar Tree has outlined some pretty major plans for 2026 as far as changes to how they do things. And many of these changes are going to directly impact personal care products, skincare, beauty, hair care items. One of the biggest changes hopefully will be a more diverse array of product selection as a result of their evolving multi price strategy. In other words, you're going to see more brands, you're going to see more product categories, and perhaps even more flexibility and product sizing and product packaging. The way I look at it, these changes, they certainly can bring about some positive changes for skincare. But as cons One of the most interesting updates that I read Dollar Tree is going to implement is an overall push for more seasonal products and product drops. You're going to start seeing a lot of new stuff in the next coming months all the way throughout 2026, seasonal beauty and skincare. They're also hoping to do a lot more trendy viral skincare dupes. They'really looking to bring in more younger budget conscious customers. Think Gen Z, the TikTok crowd. Oh yeah. So while we're You don't want to have to worry about some goofy bozo trend that Suzy Q, who you've never heard of because you don't watch young TikTokers, is doing and all the kids are raving about. That can get annoying for I think the more mature crowd who is accustomed to shopping at Dollar Tree. Y'all already know this, but as a reminder, trendy certainly does not imply effective. When it comes to skincare, the basics are what you need, cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen. I'm really hoping to see a lot more variety in terms of sunscreens. That's one thing I really hope 2026 that the Dollar Tree brings and not just randomly here in the s Maybe we'll get some tinted formulas. That would be awesome. Now more than ever though, what this means for As I really hope this channel serves as a resource for you guys in 2026 who do shop at the Dollar Tree to have a better understanding of what in there might be worth your time at any given moment throughout the year because it sounds Another big piece of the story is store closures. Dollar Tree has announced plans to close down underperforming stores while continuing to open new locations and remodel others. I also believe they're looking to expand a lot more of what they offer as far as frozen foods. And so I think they're focusing their efforts perhaps on remodeling well performing stores that cannot accommodate a larger selection. Some smaller, maybe underperforming stores Essentially the stores are going to need more space and more shelves. This can be a good thing. Maybe they'll get a bigger, better, more well stocked Dollar Tree in your area. Hopefully gone are the days of the rusty tetanus and crusted shelves of my Dollar Tree videos back in 2019. Comment below and if you remember those shelves. But unfortunately I think if you live in a more remote area, maybe a more rural area, you just don't have a lot of retailers around. And if your Dollar Tree in your area is not performing well and they close it, that might mean no Dollar Tree for you. Not every Dollar Tree will look the same, which will make for interesting content here on my YouTube channel. In all of my shopping videos, one of the most enjoyable things is just talking with Overall, I expect that product availability is going to vary quite a bit from store to store, from location to location. So hopefully what I have available in my area, So let's talk about what I know best and that is skin health. There's this misconception and honestly a lot of it has died out over the years that low cost must mean not worth it. It's not going to work. It's just junk. And that is simply not the case, including at Dollar Tree. Many Dollar Tree products are perfectly safe, effective formulations. Remember, skincare is simple, cleanse, moisturize sunscreen. Dollar Tree has some amazing cleansers and some amazing moisturizers. I really hope they get more variety as far as sunscreens. But yeah, I mean, they usually have the basics covered with really effective options at an affordable price. The biggest thing at Dollar Tree that I often comment on and caution the shopper about is a lot of the products contain preservatives known as the thiazolinones, methylchlorothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone. These are not dangerous. They help keep the product from getting contaminated to have a long shelf life, to protect the ingredients, from degrading, all of those wonderful things that preservatives do. But unfortunately, they are a class of preservatives that can be very sensitizing, meaning some people end up developing allergic reactions to them. And so I try and point that out because a lot of you guys are allergic to these and some of you may have a background skin condition I'm really optimistic, though, with all of the new changes moving forward at Dollar Tree, that maybe a lot more products without those preservatives will come in. One of the biggest changes I've noticed and enjoyed over the past several years is more products that are fragrance-free. Fragrance is another ingredient that a lot of people can develop an allergy to. And it's nice to have fragrance-free options, especially for individuals with eczema. Dollar Tree also offers a variety of effective basic formulations as far as over-the-counter topical medications. Think medicated cleansers, medicated leave-on treatments for breakouts. They have a good selection. Ingredients that are effective for specific skin concerns They have a variety of those well-established cosmetic ingredients that definitely can offer benefit. They also have a lot of nonsense kind of things in there, too, that your teen or tween might be nagging you to buy for them I mean, those things are mostly harmless. For the most part, as it stands now, Dollar Tree has a solid skincare selection. And I'm really optimistic that we're just going to get more products. But with the increase in price point, customers really have to ask themselves this moving forward. Is the value there? Is the value still there? Meaning, are we getting the most for our dollar now that it's no longer really a dollar store? And here is where I really, really recommend people to pay careful attention to the price per unit, which one thing about the Dollar Tree, I've never really seen them list price per unit. Meaning, how much are you paying per ounce? Just because it's at the Dollar Tree doesn't necessarily mean that it is a good deal. Already, without the anticipated price changes, over the past few years, I have pointed out that some things at the Dollar Tree are really not that good of a deal. That's a lot cheaper actually per unit. Also, Target, I know a lot of people are not so interested in shopping at Target anymore, but it does continue to be one of the major retailers. And per unit, a lot of times Target is cheaper than Dollar Tree for basic skincare, but not always. So you have to be savvy. One thing that I am hoping to see moving forward, though, with the proposed increase in variety, is that we'll also get maybe a few different sizes of things. Say, for example, you discover something that you actually So you're not always buying the smaller bottle, because that is really where oftentimes the savings can come in. So in s Instead, we're getting more price variety. We're getting more skincare and beauty options. We're getting larger stores. We're going to get more seasonal and unfortunately more trend driven products. And you'll note a difference between different stores, meaning if you live in a larger city And you'll note a difference between different stores, meaning if you live in your area, these can be positive changes. They also can be negative changes in a larger city It might be worth your while to kind of shop around at different dollar trees and see which ones are good in your area. These can be positive changes. They also can be negative changes. I'm really optimistic. They were Many brick and mortar retailers over the past few years have completely shut down the in person shopping experience. I mentioned this recently, but the drugstore has become a wasteland. What you can expect for me moving forward is going to be continued Dollar Tree shopping videos because they're a retailer that continues to be available to innovate to be doing well. Whereas other stores that I used to shop in either no longer exist or simply are not offering anything Let me know in the comments. Are you excited about these changes from the Dollar Tree? If you are new here, I really hope you would consider subscribing to my YouTube channel because I do go to the Dollar Tree pretty much monthly. I try to go at least once a month and film a video going through all of the new skincare haircare beauty products as well as a lot of the topical medications that they offer. Think Let me know in the comments. If you have found a Dollar Tree skincare product that is your holy grail, let us know what it is. Okay, so we can go and get it as well.
