This whole business came about with both of us being so busy. I'm a sound person and she's a midwife and those two worlds never collide so we wanted to do something that we could be together while we're doing it and hopefully make some money. Emily Downing Moore and Fatty Ismore were on vacation in Hawaii when they realized their full-time jobs were affecting their marriage. We tend to work really odd hours and so we are hardly ever home at the same time. So unless we really plan I'm under certified nurse midwife at Peace Health. I've been a midwife for ten years. My schedule varies day to day, week to week. It's never the same. It keeps me very busy. While Emily is delivering babies, Fatty Is typically working at his recording studio, Sprout City Studios. I've been doing that for thirteen years this s Music is my real passion in life and I really enjoy working with lots of the local musicians. There's a lot of really amazing talent in this town. On top of running the studio, Fatty Is also is a dr I have to juggle my time wisely otherwise something gets lost. The one thing this happy couple knew they didn't want to lose was each other. So they came up with a sweet solution, starting a business together. The Divine Cupcake. We really wanted to do something that Eugene didn't already have. There's a ton of great bakeries in this town but nobody specializes in cupcakes so we just met with that. We've been doing this business for four years now. We've been mostly doing it out of our house and at this point we're both Two months ago the couple decided to expand the business when an opportunity fell into their laps. Literally. A space became available for least just up the street from their home and Sprout City Studios. We live two blocks from here and Fatty Is'studio is right behind us so it's really convenient for just popping in and out. We have enough staff so that we don't have to be actually scheduled in to work. We just come whenever we can. Even though they aren't in the actual shop together very often, the business continues to bring them together. In addition to taking a small business class at LCC, the couple also enjoys selling cupcakes together at festivals and other events around Eugene. That's the part of the business that we spend together the most and it's fun and we just get to hang out and make people happy. One reason these cupcakes are bringing smiles to customers across the nation is their use of all organic ingredients. And although most cupcake lovers wouldn't guess it, these tasty treats are also vegan. There are so many people with food allergies because they're vegan, they don't have any animal products, anybody can eat them. The Moors say they don't stress the word vegan because for some customers it's a turnoff. I've been pushing more of the organic side of things because when people hear the word vegan I think they think of But then once they find out how good it can be and that it is vegan then they're And then we started realizing that lots of people were having problems with wheat so we started making things gluten free and we can make every single one of our cupcakes gluten free. Whether it's gluten free or just simply vegan, there's no doubt you'll find a cupcake on the menu to satisfy your sweet tooth. I Each one's got its own thing going on. And But that isn't keeping this couple from spending time together, even if it is while they're baking up some sweet success. For Oregon Extra, I'm Tiffany Dawkins.
