Sunshine Cupcakes Etc

Hey there, I'm Barbara Berry and welcome to June's Cupcake of the Month. You know we've got all those long sunny days of s Let's get started and I'll show you just how easy it is. First of all here'some cute little sunshine cupcakes that we made up earlier and as you can see just I started out by using my favorite cupcake recipe and then I cooled them about 30 minutes but I want to tell you a secret come on over to my freezer. The best way to decorate cupcakes really is to start with a frozen cupcake because all those little tiny cr I have some icing here and this is just hand icing but I also kind of did a little secret with this. To one can of icing I added about a half cup of powdered sugar and a little bit of vanilla extract so it's kind of Now as you can see I'm just smoothing this icing all over. We want to kind of have a nice smooth surface to put a little face on and then I'm going to put the little pretzel sticks on next. Now this is what the fun part is I think because Some of them as you can see on the other cupcakes were larger and so you can really do it any way you want but I'm just going to make these little sun rays that are made out of pretzels a tiny bit smaller and I'm starting out with these first because I don't want to accidentally knock them out later on so I want to make sure they're secure before I do anything else. Now see that little guy gets stuck and I actually put the pretzels right in the side of the cupcake. What do you think? It looks to me Alright let me put another tiny little one over there to kind of match up. Alright now we've got the sun rays and I am crazy if you all have ever eaten these things of course these twizzlers look at all the colors they come in orange and pink and blue you can cut them into strips but I cut them just straight across to make some pretty little eyes and I think they almost look Let me see if I've got a little twizzler piece right here. There's one that'll make a happy face. Pretty cute h Let's get a little rosy cheeks on this one. You can use any kind of candies that you think are great for decorating. I've just chosen an assortment of all kinds of different things but I think that's what makes these fun because they all have a different personality and a different look so there's my you are my sunshine cupcake.
