A local cupcake shop with a sister store in New Orleans cannot catch a break. First tornadoes and now a hurricane. News Channel 5's Alexander Cohen talked with the owner who's determined to stay positive. Minyaw Franu00e7ois says her cupcake collection store in New Orleans has some water damage. Mostly it's just tree branches are down. The patio is in disarray after Ida made landfall as a category for hurricane. The loose She's been busy helping her employees down in Louisiana. I was looking for temporary housing for them. I secured some hotel rooms for them because the last thing I want them to do is to have to depend on whatever they're using as their daily resource. Some of them are coming up here to work at this shop to make ends meet. I'm hopeful because I always know that things that are happening to you are actually happening for you if you'll see them that way. When it rains it pours. That saying couldn't be truer. Currently her store here in Nashville is still under construction. They're trying to fix it after the tornadoes. So for now cupcake pickup is happening on the porch. Thank you. Thank you. I always feel Minyaw says they will be fine but she's worried about displaced families who are blowing all their money on hotels. The majority of Americans are already one paycheck from being homeless sometimes and people are using the little that they already have and have used their rent money for three days in a hotel. It will take some time to get both cupcake collections back to 100 percent but Minyaw is staying optimistic. Reporting in Nashville Alexandra Cohen News Channel 5.
