I take my chocolate very seriously. Sarah Brooke is a self-described chocolate. And when you own a bakery and cafe, that's a pretty good thing to be. Life is good right at this moment. We have non-chocolate desserts, but my heart, my heart is really in my chocolate dessert. For the last 20 years, she's been putting her heart and soul into everything she bakes. At the age of 21, she gave up a lucrative career in law to follow her passion. All my life, I've just come to bake cookies. She had two other businesses before she opened the dessert gallery on Upper Kirby in 1995. But she says this one is her favorite. We're all about feeling good. She makes customers feel good by making desserts Creamy yellow layers soaked in espresso, covered with a mocha ganache, and topped with dollops of mocha buttercream. It's incredible. Sarah says her most popular dessert is the old-fashioned diner cake. A simple yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Everybody has the same response to it. It is such an emotional, excited response. Oh, that was my birthday cake when I was little, or oh, my grandmother used to make that for me. Being surrounded by all these delicious desserts, I had to ask Sarah which one she Every day I have a new favorite. Today's favorite was Rocky Road Cake. Rocky Road is a chocolate cake that she frosts when it's warm, so the frosting melts into the cake and she adds pecans and marshmallows. I gotta tell you, it's really good. If you talk to customers, they'll tell you everything is good at the dessert gallery. Fantastic. I haven't had anything that hasn't just totally blown me away since I've been coming here. This one is a cheesecake, a mocha cheesecake, and I recommend that highly in the adult world, they should make it illegal. I just The food is fantastic and the desserts are out of this world. The dessert gallery also serves sandwiches, wraps, and salads. Our, quote, real food is on the lighter side so that you can feel good about indulging in a dessert when you're done. That's what the dessert gallery is all about, indulging, having fun, and enjoying every bite. I just want people to feel good and to be happy and have an amazing piece of cake and a great cup of coffee and just for, Just forget about everything else. Because the desserts are incredible and taste so good, we've made the dessert gallery a Houston hidden treasure.
