Our attention to detail, innovation in taste, and community outreach will make you feel good about what you’re eating and keep you coming back for more! OCD Cakes exists to take a bite out of the stigma surrounding mental health through cake. By using cake as a meaningful icebreaker, the way we view mental health and approach mental illness within this country will no longer be cumbersome and uncomfortable. When you order an OCD Cakes product, 5% of our profits benefit local mental health agencies. Mental health issues affect 1 in 4 Americans. Let’s do our part to reduce the stigma, promote wellness and eat cake!
Hi there, selection committee. My name is James Avant the Fourth and I love baking. It is the perfect combination of both science and creativity when you merge those two together, you get this exceptional product that is a reflection of both you and the time you put into it. I have a great amount of experience as a home baker, but I also have a good track record and a great experience working in the industry. But as a culinary instructor, I have over 200 hours of instructional experience. And the company that I own currently is called OCD Cakes. It stands for Protective Cake Disorder. And the purpose of that company in conjunction with making these awesome pastries is to take a bite out of the stigma surrounding mental health through cake. And I use cake because cake is something that is very familiar and it is tied to celebration. And when you are eating cake, you are not thinking about negativity and relishing negative thoughts. Why not take something that is so comfortable and pair that with something uncomfortable And so as someone who suffers from mental illness, it is something that I am very passionate about and something that I really use as the driving force for that company. But because the market is changing, I also have to change. And as a culinary instructor, I really get frustrated when people come into my classes or they come inquire about classes and they can'take the class because of the price structure or the lack of accessibility. And so what Intend to do through OCD Bakes is offer both an affordable and accessible experience that eliminates many of the fears associated with baking. So again, my name is James of On The Fourth. I am the owner of both OCD Cakes and now the Pivot to OCD Bakes. And I cannot wait to work with you to really create something that is going to make a long lasting footprint on our community. Thank you and I hope to
