Hi...My name is Kelly...I am a single mom, with 3 awesome daughters who are 21, 23 and 24 and the cutest, most kissed grandsons on the planet!! This business started out of necessity when my husband left, when my girls were babies. My parents were in the process of opening a coffee shop, and I had always loved baking...so it was an answer to prayer! I could bake out of my home, and not have to put my girls in daycare. I baked for their shop for 3 years, then got outside coffee shop accounts and started selling at the Gresham Farmers Market. I am now in the process of looking for a location, to have a retail bakery...I'm not sure where that will be?! But this is exciting!! This business has been a blessing from the Lord....baking out of my home, and still getting to be a stay-at-home Mom!! Which I have been so thankful!!
It's down to the last few hours for Heaven Sent Bakery in O'Fallon, Missouri. After more than 25 years, the bakery on Bryan Road is turning off its ovens for the last time at 9 o'clock tonight. Five on your side, Tracy Henson has a bittersweet story. The main reason they're closing, they just don't have anyone to actually make the donuts. It's kind of hard work. We got decorators, we got bakers, but we don't have donut people. So as the two sisters round the corner on retirement, they've continued to put the hours in. I'm here seven nights a week on the overnights. In fact, we're so shorthanded I'm wearing the headset and doing drive-thru and door dash all night long. Some employees and loyal fans talked about buying the business, but no luck. The shop is set to become the opposite of a sweet tooth destination. A dentist has bought the building. So far, it's not a hundred percent done deal. For as long as the bakery has been open, Betty and Judith have stopped in for donuts. All kinds of donuts. We love donuts. They're sure going to miss the place. Well, we'll certainly miss the donuts. But yes, you walk in and they're glad to see you. They know what your hobbies are.
