Round Hill General Store

Guess where I am today Hi everybody I'm Samantha Burford with Richmond Tourism Talk. Today we're at Round Hill near Kirktsville and we're at the very popular spot of Round Hill General Store. Today I'm with Mike Friend. Mike thanks for having us. I'm gonna stay my distance over here so that we can be socially correct and you've got your mask on. Tell us about this general store also known as the grocery store because We have a little bit of everything but we also have a diner and that's the main focus here is the diner. Right now we had lunch it was delicious. Good I'm glad you enjoyed it. What's the most popular thing on your menu? I'd have to say the beer cheese burger. We grind our own meat so we have our own fresh ground chuck and then we make our own beer cheese also so it the two go really well together especially coming off the hot grill. Absolutely and Yes it's called Round Hill Block and Brew and it's you can get it in some retail outlets in Richmond, Berea, Lexington, Danville and London. Well I have to admit I am one of the purchasers of your beer cheese and I say it's delicious. My favorite. Now tell us you get people from all over the place here don't you? Yes I've had people from as far away as California and Las Vegas and San Antonio, Texas and Melbourne, Florida and I've had a lot of people from different parts of the country here. And what do people say when they come? The scenery, the food, a little bit of probably all the above right? The food and then the atmosphere back before the COVID came we used to have card players in every day and they would play rook back one of the back tables and that was kind of a big thing and they'd come in and see some of the old timers playing rook and it's just a good thing. Well speaking of tables That's correct we have our tables to where we have chairs on some of the tables so that it's all spaced out and then we have some booths outside also. Now tell us how long have My wife and I purchased this store in April four years ago. The store's actually been here for a lot longer than that I couldn'tell you exactly how long but it's been here for a long time. And Yeah there's I don't know everything about the history I'm still learning. The round hill which is right next to the store here is an Indian Bearland and I always found that very interesting. Phone call our n The easiest way to find us is to come out Barnes Mill Road till you come to the stop sign turn left and we're about another two miles down on the right.
