this sister store to baked & wired offers the same type of food we eat at home – simple cooking done well.
Parents opened up Bates & Wired 14 years ago. They wanted to have a spot in first-hand for everyone to come get a good cup of coffee and a good baked goods. It didn't exist then. There was only Starbucks. I grew up there, my brother grew up there, and then we decided to open this place together. All of our whole family's in it. My cousin's also at Bates & Wired, so truly a family business. We still offer a lot of things at Bates & Wired, but we wanted to take a little bit different, and since we have this space, this place is a lot bigger, we wanted to experiment also with things that we did not have space to do at Bates & Wired. So our coffee program's a little bit more extended, our tea program, bread, and more food options as well. Bread is definitely the star here. You can walk in, you can smell them baking the bread, and then once you enter the store and you're waiting for your food, you can watch them bake the bread, and so you'really involved in the whole process, which I think is really different. It's a true open kitchen, which is kind of unusual. I think a lot of people who are coming from Bates & Wired who know us there are coming here to try it out, but I'm also seeing a lot of new customers. We have a lot of different types of people here. It's a lot of residential people. We have different universities around here.
