Local Coffee Roaster, Superb Baked Goods, Quality Ingredients, Awesome Sandwiches!
Catalina provides freshly roasted, specialty coffees and coffee drinks from homemade flavors. Unlike many coffee companies of similar size, Catalina doesn’t simply buy and resell coffee from exotic locations and unknown farmers. Catalina goes to the source— hand-selecting coffee from around the world with quality and fairness in mind. Using direct trade importers, they ensure farmers and workers are paid a living wage (and in many cases, have had the opportunity to meet with these individuals themselves), and then bring the amazing coffees that they grow and harvest back to Florida for expert-level roasting. The numerous cafés locations also serve made-from-scratch baked goods and unique made-to-order sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. The company also provides wholesale products such as coffee and tea to other coffee shops and restaurants throughout Florida. Maurice is a certified instructor with the Specialty Coffee Association of America, providing him with the expertise required to present and participate in many conferences, as well as teach other aspiring coffee roasters and baristas proper techniques.
So PowerUp is our experiment to really begin to provide innovative programming for second stage chair companies. And when we think about who those companies are in our community, they are our pillars, right? Those are the businesses that have staking the ground, visual representation, and furthermore we have served our community for a long time. When we partnered with First Commerce Credit Union on this experiment, this idea, we never knew that we'll have such an impact as we are having right now. But to get in the program, we only had five slots. And you're talking about companies that show promise of reinventing themselves, reimagining who they are, and kind of falling in love with their customer again. Catalina Cafe is everybody's fix in town to have a very productive day at work, right? If you think about the name, Catalina actually means pure cafe's coffee. It's pure coffee. And it's ran by more recent Tris Moten, two people that love, truly love what they do. We're a growing business and it's really good to get some help sometimes to have We kind of go in and do our daily routines every single day. And it's just really nice to have somebody come in and have a sense of how the business is doing from the outside looking in. Well, the assessment is really a total story of where they just address the processes, how to become more lean and more efficient in what we do. So things Their timeliness on those matters have improved They're already a great company and now when they think about their brand, I think they realize their greatest goal is their product development. Some of the things that we've learned is that we need to be a little bit more organized. Some of the questions and stuff that they asked specifically We didn't have the answer to and so that was kind of one of the things that they helped us with was learn the importance of knowing exactly where everything is going and why something is the way that it is.
