Tahoe House Bakery & Gourmet

Thank you very much. I'm here with Barbara Melrose. We're at Tahoe House right off 589 in Tahoe City. Of course you've seen it and if you haven't stopped in here you are missing out. I've been here in here a n I always come in for coffee but you've got way more than that. Before we talk about all the products give us a little history of the Tahoe House. We just served dinner at 5 p. m. to 10 p. m. that was it and we gradually morphed into a little bit more. We started doing more baking because we couldn't find any good bread or cakes. My dad had learned a little bit of that in culinary school in Switzerland and so he kind of wanted to be able to improve upon what were able to get from a purveyor and so we started gradually baking our own bread and we branched out into cakes and you morphed later. Here we are. The rest is history right. So that's why we're seeing the Swiss flag outside and the Swiss influence in here in the Tahoe House is because that's where your parents are from. Exactly my parents are both originally from Switzerland the German speaking part. They immigrated here in 1965 and 1966 so it's been quite some time but if you ever come in the afternoon to see my mom sometime she's got the heavy Swiss accent. Nice. Still very authentic. She can't get rid of it. Shake it no matter what she wants. Yeah and so I Yeah a little bit of everything we try to keep something for the locals and something for the second homeowners as well as the tourists. So I ask you know coffee n We do all different muffins raspberry danish chocolate croissants all those goodies all every morning. I think since we've been here just a matter of five ten minutes there have been people in and out this is a highly popular place and for good reason it's all quality right the quality behind every product. That's definitely what we strive for we try to do the best quality job we can it might not be fancy or elaborate but it's good food. And so with the sandwiches this is a good spot to get your coffee get you going up to squall alpine wherever you're heading but then also the sandwich to have in the pocket or in the car for the bargain. What's your n Probably the turkey sandwich but honestly the n Okay you want the ham and cheese croissant our black-forced ham and greer cheese croissant wraps up it's a good size croissant wraps up in a bag really well stick it in your pocket you don't have to go stop for lunch you can eat on the chair left. Just It depends on the day today I'd probably have to say the chocolate croissant is my favorite yeah.
