Funky Tim Burton-esque house with a variety of over 55 imported and domestic beer, wine, specialty espresso drinks, smoothies, breakfast and lunch choices, pastries and treats, monthly art exhibits, live music, hand-crafted items for sale, a beautiful landscaped courtyard, entertainment .. and of course, coffee!
More than a coffee house, Wake the Dead is home to the local art and performance scene in San Marcos. Wake the Dead offers a variety in their menu, including coffee, tea, root beer, real beer and art. Paintings, portraits and jewelry fill every room in the Tim Burton-esque coffee house. Then you got some rock and roll and some cool lights and some cool people and a lot of different colors. With three different rooms and a wraparound courtyard, students have ample room to study or get cozy and hang out. For both occasions, Wake the Dead has the ideal conditions. It's conducive to studying. It's also kind of It's a good place to have a beer and a coffee. Other students prefer to stick with making it a good place to catch up on Wake. Every time I've been here, it's a good atmosphere. I come here when I'm really behind on stuff and I just kind of catch up and just get excited. Outside of school, Wake the Dead offers a chance for locals to get distracted by hosting different events. One of the awesome things that the owner strives for is to create a platform for people of all ages and all genres and all skill levels to perform. So we get a lot of different people from a lot of different backgrounds playing, whether it's hip-hop or full or bluegrass. Live performances are a big part of the coffee shop's community. They help stand-up comedians, poor she-slams, and hip-hop slams, among other things during the week. Weekends are the biggest events with live music. Now a barista of three years, Michael White used to perform at Wake the Dead. We pretty much allow anybody to play here. And then in allowing anybody to play here, there's the danger of sometimes it being weird. There's also the benefit of people being I get to meet a lot of very interesting people, especially during South by when a lot of musicians come for a year. Try to look for venues. Friday night, Austin musician Epi the Third performed as part of his debut alb There'some pretty cool places out there, but this one gives you a little bit of everything that you want. I mean, just looking around, you can see all the culture and dig on the art, not only music, but artwork, I mean, there's drawings all over the walls, pictures of folks.
