I'm Thomas Smith for the Bay Area Telegraph and today let's talk about the difference between Phil's coffee, which I've got here and Starbucks coffee, which I also love. So first let's just talk about the vibe at these two different places. And Versus it Phil's it's a little bit different vibe, it's like slow down, sip and savor the coffee and the baristas are going to take time to talk to you, they're going to take time to say your name, So there's a culture of sort of waiting and talking and making adjustments if you need to, it's all sort of a slower process. So that's the difference really between the two in terms of vibe. Now in terms of the actual roast of the coffee, Starbucks is known for having a very kind of harsh, almost people call it almost Phil's a little bit more of a medi In terms of the actual drinks though, really what you're looking at Phil's is often pour over coffee, that's really what they're known for and again that's that kind of slow process. One cup at a time, they're pouring the water over there right in front of you and brewing it for you right there. With Starbucks it's a much broader menu, you've got all kinds of different lattes and espresso drinks and teas and non-coffee drinks and unicorn things and all this crazy stuff. Phil's really mostly focuses on the pour over coffees with a couple of specialty drinks Starbucks is all about the specialty drinks, you've got your Frappuccinos, it's just all over the place, so much broader menu at Starbucks if you're not into those kind of strong pour over coffees and also Phil's does not do espresso, it's only drip coffee, it's only traditional coffee so they kind of make espresso or latte Now the final thing that I think is a big difference between these two places in addition to talking about the vibes and So those are some of the main differences, really you can't go wrong. I go to both of them, I go to Starbucks when I'm in more of a rush and I just need to get that coffee right away or if I want to get Phil's, they do have some teas, they do have some other things but really the star of the show is that pour over coffee, it's great where you want to just slow down, kind of savor the morning, get a delicious drink, maybe chat with somebody while you wait to get it and have that more relaxed type of a vibe.
