Meg's is a local family owned coffee shop. We have been serving the Rockford area since 2001!
This week is to go Rockford Region Restaurant Week and we want to highlight some of the state lines most beloved local spots. I stopped by Megs Daily Grind to see how the family run shop has been brewing success and love for the community. For nearly 20 years, Megs Daily Grind has been brewing, pouring and serving countless cups of coffee to loyal customers. Megs was started by my sister and my parents. My sister is Meg. She had been working at coffee shops in the past and an opportunity arose that there was a space available and she was 19 years old and Co-owner Leslie Erickson says over the years things have changed. We've opened stores, we've closed stores, we moved our Riverside location over to our Perryville locations. But one thing that hasn't. We have great customers that have just continued to support us throughout all these ups and downs, throughout these all years. Customers who come in every day, they become more than just our customers. They become our friends, they become our family. They've really supported us and have been there for us and we feel it and we appreciate it. 2020 was a taxing year for the business. COVID-19 temporarily closed their doors in March. While the pandemic has created a host of challenges for the coffee shop, owners say that drive-thru is what's getting them through it. Thank you. Of course, have a great day. You too. Drive-thru has saved us. Without drive-thru I don't know what we would have done this year. Erickson says she misses daily interactions with customers, but is hopeful a new year and their continued support will be the perfect blend for success. Just keep on thinking of local. When you're going out to eat, when you're choosing your coffee, keep supporting us. 20 years and hopefully another 20 more. Brewing a strong community of coffee lovers for the years to come.
