Thanks for staying with us here on Midday Kentucky. I am so excited today to bring you inside one of my favorite places here in Central Kentucky. We're down in Richmond checking out the four sisters Soap and Tea Emporia. I'm here with the owner Melody. Thank you for having us out today. How are you doing? Great. Thank you so much for coming. So for people who have not been able to visit this fabulous establishment yet, tell us kind of how you got started and your mission. Well, we actually started with our farm product, which is the goat's milk soap. We raise dairy goats here in Madison County. And then we take the milk and make all natural soap and that extended out to lotion, bath bombs, beard oil, beard balm, pretty much everything you can use in the bathroom. And I love that everything is still handmade and you're making them. Here's one of my favorites. This is, has mint, right? What kind of ingredients are you using? Well, that's one of our all natural, essential all-in's patchouli mints, very popular. So even the coloring on that is natural. That's activated charcoal, which also detoxifies your skin and purifies it. So anything that we're using is an all-natural ingredient. And it really does smell amazing. Let us know what are some of the other popular scents that you sell? Besides the essential olim, we also do fragrance all-soap. So a lot of people find those very popular. Love spell, black velvet, around the fall time, everything p We have everything from white p And I love coming down here to Richmond because you can not only pick up some great soap, but also relax and have some delicious tea. I love your tea room. Talk to us about what you have won on back here. Well, we decided to open the storefront. We found this cute little building and it was just perfect for what we wanted to do, except the back room was going to be too big to fill with soap. So we decided to open up a tea room. We thought we would sell a little bit of loose leaf tea. So we started off selling about 11 different loose leaf teas back here. And were so pleasantly surprised how popular tea was. People wanted to know more about tea. People wanted to learn about tea. So within a year went from 11 loose leaf teas to over 90 and full service restaurant. We do afternoon tea, low tea all day long here. We serve breakfast and lunch all day. We've been voted best of the best business lunch in Madison County two years running. And we really enjoy doing all the afternoon tea, especially tea parties here. And another thing that people can do to sort of try things out, you offer sniffers. And I have one over here. Of course, my ears were buzzing when you mentioned the bourbon. What is this that we're going to be sniffing? That is actually the chocolate ginger bourbon. So people can come in and smell it. If you It's delicious. So how does that work? You have sort of a row. Does that rotate? And people can just walk through and just sniff. Right. We have a little sniffers there available so they're not picking up the big jar and sticking their nose in the end. So we have a little sniffer and they can just pick one up and smell it and we'll assist them of course if they know they want caffeine or they don't want caffeine because those are the most important for people. And we just let them try the tea first with their nose and then with their mouth. And you also sell tea sort of by the bag, right? People can buy tea to drink here. I have one of my favorites. You also do lattes, but people can buy their favorite tea to take home to make as well, right? They can. So we sell it by the scoop here. It's either a dollar or two dollars a scoop depending on what kind of tea it is. We also sell all the implements to make that perfect cup of tea at home. And I mentioned that I'm trying to come down here with Troy because he loves going over tea. You actually have monthly events, right? We do. We have a different event each month. It is a themed low tea this month. It's the blue English rose. Next month it'll be something different. Okay. And there's a coordinating tea pot and tea set to go with each month. So you can buy the same set that we're using here in the shop that month and take it home and make your tea there as well. And also doing something fun now. It's the latte of the week. What is this that I'm going to try? That is actually the Berkshire Apple and Fig. Each week we have a different latte. We have over 200 different kinds. They're usually tea lattes. Sometimes they are coffee lattes because we do have locally roasted coffee here in our shop. Okay. So we try to do everything local if we can. And sometimes we combine the two. So making a latte dirty means you're adding a shot of espresso to it. So that's what I need to j Love that you're doing everything here locally, especially those soaps. Where can people go online to get some more information about your classes or some of your other offerings? We do have a Facebook page for Sister Soap and Tea Empori com. So you can find out all about our classes order products. We ship tea. It's free shipping all over the USA. Or you can order soap. There's a soap of the month club. There's the tea of the month club. All kinds of things to do online if you're not local. Well, I did not know about the tea of the month club. I think I have to join that. But go to their Facebook page. They're very active about posting in their events. We appreciate you having us out today. Thank you so much for coming. We will send things to break, but we'll have more midday Kentucky on the other side. Cheers.
