Delivering direct-trade, sustainably-roasted specialty coffee from family farmers in Brazil and beyond.
For six generations my family has cultivated amazing coffee in the highlands of Brazil. We established Nossa Familia Coffee and Espresso Bar in Portland to share our joy for coffee with you. Come by and give us a try and I hope you enjoy! - Augusto
Over a hundred years ago, my family settled in a mountainous region on the border of the state of Minas and Su00e3o Paulo and Brazil. Known for its beauty and rich volcanic soil, they planted their first coffee crop in the spring of 1890. Today, five generations later, my family still lives there, raising our children, working the same land and enjoying this beautiful area. At our farm, we care for the coffee from bean to cup. The handpick are fine arabica beans when they are ripe and ready for plucking. The coffee is then laid out to dry under the warm Brazilian sun. It all looks easy here, but it's a laborious process that takes over three days and requires constant supervision. Once the coffee is ready, we first roast samples in small batches to determine the best coffee lots and decide on the blends that will eventually roast and package. It's a long journey and it takes nearly three months, but then we can finally sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labor. It's a family tradition that we take great pride in. Five generations have watched over these hills and hopefully five more will as well. The values we hold and our respect for the environment have helped care for the land, and our respect for the workers, our great-great grandparents would be proud.
