I think when you do something with care and something that you take time and put love into, I think people really can taste the difference. And when somebody has a Van Luen ice cream, maybe they don't know exactly what it is. It's making it so special, but they can taste the Van Luen Artisan Ice Cream is made up of myself. My husband Ben Van Luen and his brother Peter Van Luen, the three of us started the company when were living together in Green Point, Brooklyn. I have a passion for ice cream. I have really a passion for food and So we're using hormone and antibiotic free milk and cream, cane sugar, never any corn syrup and then we find the best possible ingredients that we can find from small producers locally and around the world. I mean there'such a difference in taste when something is made with very pure ingredients. We keep it extremely simple and find the best of everything we can get our hands on. As long as you start with that, you're halfway ahead. There was definitely people who thought this idea was too crazy to work. Our own father upon tasting our ice cream for the first time said, It's just not very good. And his tune changed quickly after the press started writing about it and all calling it good at which point he said that it was too cold when he tasted it. What makes us most happy about the ice cream company is basically just as simple as seeing people enjoy it because it's very obvious and it's very apparent when they do and that they do. When we started making our ice cream we had a lot of people say to us, oh you should be putting milk powder in or you should be using this filler or this g If we can make ice cream at home that is rich and delicious, why can't we make it on a larger scale?
