One such business is the pie bowl, an independent pie shop in downtown L. A. 's Fibrin Art District. Well, we've been open since we had our first year anniversary, October of last year, so we've been open about a year and a half now. It's hard to do a small business, I would imagine, anywhere. The biggest thing I've ever done, it's the most daunting thing I've ever done. I've worked for a lot of small businesses and owning your own small business is a different animal. You're worrying about everything from dollars to building, to employees, to products. It's a lot to wrap your mind around. And trying to grow your business in this market is a little bit more difficult because you open a cheeseburger stand, you're pretty much going to know where you can go with that. But a pie shop is not known, it's not a known element, so there's no information you can pull that can help guide you along the way. It's not a very important thing, it's not a very important business, but it's about business. It was important to us from the first day to solidify a brand. That way you can relate to the product no matter where you go. If we open up location 2, 3, 10, 20, you'll always know what to expect. We get a lot of our business from our name. People walk by, if you're sitting outside, they'll say, the pie hole, it's one of the features for the shop. People That'sort of what a brand does. I want people to come in here and when they see our logo, to associate that with delicious pie and excellent customer service and the best cup of coffee you've ever had. It's a job to match all that up. Well, in LA, other bakeries, they don't focus on any one thing. They focus on a variety of items. But when you focus one thing, you strive to be the best at whatever you're doing. So we strive to be the best pie shop in town.
