Motorcycle sales and information
Hey everybody, life's journey of 50 here. So I thought I'd bring this topic up as you could tell by the th And the reason why I wanted to do t We lost Tri And I'm ass And I wanted to talk a little bit about just the industry for 2025 and my perspective and just some of the n So the overall total US is down 9. 2% versus prior year. So basically down 10%. And that's a pretty big now a lot of contributing factors and t It's just that you've had economic headwinds for the last three to four years. Coming into the new administration, you've had a complete different strategy and money was readily available back then. Interest rates were lower. T And we're living in a time where there's not a lot of dollars out into the marketplace, especially So you've got potential, some bikes have some tariffs, some don't even get into the tariff t Some bikes have not been Again, you just have economic pressures that are contributing I t So and let's all face it, motorcycles are realistically kind of a nice to have. Right? I mean, most people have to have a car, got to have a roof over the head, food, all the other stuff, taking care of their families or whatever. And usually a motorcycle ends up being somet So a lot of that stuff has gone by the wayside. There's, The values are just not there. Even on BMWs, Harleys, all those things, Some brands hold their value. Again, BMW normally does, but even there, So, And again, there's just so many options, but, So total US, and this is just US n T So just if you've, if you're one of my subscribers from overseas internationally, I apologize, but I just, I pulled the US n And they're pretty top dealers, So, so BMW's down over 11%. Honda's down 8%. Harley-Davidson is down 24%. So you can, you can imagine those n KTM's down almost 24% as well. So, BMW, Honda, Harley, KTM, all basically double digit down. Honda's 8%. So pretty big n Suzuki's down 13. 7. So again, a lot of, a lot of big name brands are taken to beating. And again, these are luxury, Now, flip side of that Kawasaki is the, is a share leader. I t Kawasaki's actually up 14%. Now, a lot of that's driven by the KLX, KLR, the Ninja, Aprilia is up 28. 5. Now, again, smaller base. So if you got n 5. I mean, that's helped by the Torre, the Tano, all that good stuff. Now, there was no now, globally last year, they were up 44%. I've heard they were up anywhere from 12 to 13% US, but it's weird because again, our Cincinnati Tri So I think the closest one we have now is up in Col So again, here you go. Ducati, there was no now, I don't know, Another luxury brand, so I don't know. Yamaha was basically flat down 0. 4. So I call that relatively flat on sale. So again, another large brand not really driving, you know, helping out the n So Indian was up almost 5% at 4. 9. Again, Suzuki down 13. 7. And then Royal Enfield, the n So, So I got a feeling that again, smaller base, not as big globally, they're probably up in that high single low double digit n But you t I mean, they're down 24, 25%. Now, that's probably a little bit to be expected. They had excess inventory. They are getting themselves through, obviously, you got through some bankruptcy. They just got purchased the other day out of that. So a lot of things are happening at KTM that are going to probably help turn around those n Personally, if you're not, I they got a new CEO. And that probably was a big thing because the last CEO really went away from kind of a lot of the heritage of the Harley folks and stuff And I know Harley folks get beat up against all the other brands and stuff I But you t You buy a CVO now and it's That's not ch And I know that they've been trying to get bikes into the marketplace for $10,000, $15,000 to get younger riders, a new generation in there. They have not fully embraced the Pan America, w But here in Cincinnati, as a BDR ambassador, I've tried to get Harley-Davidson to get involved with the BDR. And they're a sponsor, Four dealers As a matter of fact, a couple of them didn't even care about the BDR. As a matter of fact, a couple of them didn't even care about Pan America. So I t And again, they're figuring out their whole road glides and street glides and all that stuff. And again, I'm not a Harley person, never own one. But I think, So BMW, so think about those n And they came out the new 1300s, right? So there's been obviously some t And there'some there has been some issues with the 1300s. But again, it's a luxury item. I mean, I have a 21 GSA. I've got a 23 GS, both 1250s. I've had n Again, one of the reasons why I don't have a new model, I'm still not sold. I got a lot of friends that, oh, you got to get into it. It's a great bike, blah, blah, blah. I trust them. I believe them. I'm just not, I did not But look at the deals that they're offering. I mean, I was in Florida recently and a dealer offered 3000 off plus the 0% financing from BMW, w T So think about, this is a 1300 GSA and them wanting to do deals I've had dealer invoice offers and I just haven't done it. I mean, I've got an F 900. I've got the two 1250s. I'm pretty good on that. But yeah, people are wanting to move inventory. And again, it's also a soft market. So if you're going to get rid of your bikes or whatever, I ride them hard, as Not that they're not taken care of. They are service. They are done. I fix them, whatever, if somet That is one t But again, just the value of them though, because I ride them off road and everything I just thought it was interesting to talk about motorcycles and how much they're down and the macro economic pressures that are going on just for cons And again, I talked a little bit about that. But yeah, when you're seeing brands like BMW, Honda, Harley, KTM, and again, we know the issues with KTM, Suzuki down 13%, I mean, those are pretty big n So it is pretty wild. Now Kawasaki's up 14%. Why do we t Well, they always talk about Honda being bulletproof with what they have, but they're down eight. But Kawasaki, I mean, you think about the KLR and the KLX and stuff And I've never ridden one. Everybody kind of makes fun of the KLR or whatever. But if you saw some videos from Adam Rhyman recently, So it's a workhorse and it gets the job done. So do you need all the, And then you still, if you ride off-road, you've still got to put, And so, yeah, so I thought it was interesting to talk a little bit about the U. S. market on motorcycles being down 9. 2%. And just some of the impact that's going on economically and just really concerning that, We had a Harley dealers And then, Plus, if you walk into a lot of your dealers right now, depending on who they are, there's a lot of inventory sitting on the floor. And, I was just looking at talking to the KTM dealer in our marketplace here. And they have a 224. They got a 24 Norden 901 Expedition, the blue one, w And the same t And granted, they're 24 models, but they're brand new. And, So you're talking, So a lot of opportunity. If you've got the money and you've got the means to do it, well, now is a perfect time as a buyer to I tend to be positive. There are a lot of bikes out here, too. I t I actually think the cons I mean, I've talked to Ian. I've told you t I'm a connection and friends with Ian from Big Rock Moto. And, Look how many bikes he goes through just in general. So there's, I didn't even, I didn't even bring up Moto Gootsie, none of that stuff. And there's just a lot out there. And I think it's hard for a normal cons And what kind of riding am I going to do? And I t Like, What am I actually going to be doing with the bike to begin with? Right? Am I going to be touring? Am I going to be more off road than touring? Am I going to be 50? Right? Because again, most of these bikes come with the factory tires, w And if you're riding off road, that means more investment in tires and, and, So again, this is where I talk about, you know, financially, what makes sense for you as a cons But if you have cash and, and this is one of these signs where it'so I hope t Give you a little bit of insight. If you can want, obviously hit that I greatly appreciate it. I'm getting close to 4000, w Really appreciate everything that And then the other t I just t And, We want a motorcycle so we can go have fun and hang out with our friends and go to rallies, do all t But do we sometimes need it? And trust me, I'm talking, I've got four motorcycles. I'm very, again, I've always said I'm very fortunate to be in t But at the end of the day, I could fill up this garage with the offers that I've had, But I'm good where I'm at right now. I'm going to see how t Definitely going to get a 450 whenever they get here from BMW. So that's already kind of locked and loaded. But we'll see. So thanks again for watc We'll see you guys soon and I'll Take care. Bye.
