Pat's Porch

Hey, it's Royce Peters with Cornerhouse Realty. We're doing another episode today of Community Spotlight here. I'm with Beth at Pat's porch at 819 Frederick Road. We're in the heart of Catonsville, interviewing another awesome small local business. Beth was just telling me her story. So you've been open for how long now? It was three years in May, so I'm going on my fourth year. Okay. So at 919 was previously a candy store, you were telling me? It was previously Ken's Old Fashioned Candy Shop. Okay. So you've kind of combined a little bit of the old with the new. How would you describe Pat's porch for someone who hasn't been here before? You've got a beautiful store. It's a candy store with good chocolates, a lot of nostalgic candy, and then the gift shop area focuses on items made in America. And I try to have a little bit of a lot of things. So I have Yeah, you've got some unique stuff here, some cool gifts, some awesome cards, a lot of local stuff that's featured, stuff you're probably not going to find at a big box store. That's what I try for. So speaking of boxes, you're telling me what's it? Marylandbox. com. I acquired Marylandbox. com this time last year, which is basically an online, build your own Maryland box gift boutique. Okay. Mostly it's Maryland food items, but I've added some Maryland gift items as well. Okay. So you can build your own box by the price point or some pre-made boxes that I have on my home. Interesting. Okay. So local theme, so if you've got something, can you ship that out of town or? Shipping is included in the price. Gotcha. So that you buy online and I can. . . So if you've got someone that's lonely out of town, maybe homesick. You can do that. A lot of people buy the boxes as thank yous if they've traveled and they stay with a host family. Okay. They send them as a thank you or people that have moved out of the area that's awesome. So what are your hours here if someone wants to stop them and get a gift? So now actually starting October 1st through the end of the year, I'm open seven days a week. Okay. I'm open Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays, 10 to 5, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10 to 7 and Sundays 11 to 4. Okay. So most Pretty much. I do have some employees, so I do get some time off these days, but we're hitting our busy season, so I'm here a lot. Okay. Awesome. Well, congrats on all your success. The team is here.
