Curb Market

Family owned. Seasonally fresh. Always local first. For folks who prefer ethically-grown, natural foods that sustain the future of .our local food supply

We are here at the municipal market, also known as the curb market. The building came about right after the Great Fire in 1917. So in 1918, we needed somewhere for people to come by their goods. So they created the municipal market. I mean, then 1924, it's when the women's club built the brick building. During the Jim Crow laws, it created the name of the curb market also because the black farmers were not allowed to sell inside the market. So they sold outside. African Americans have gone to know this as a place where they've always shopped and they passed it on through generations that this is the place to go. If you want to get meat, any part of the pork you want from the root into the tuna, you can always come here to the curb market. This market, it is the heart and it's just really fun to be able to be in a space that has been here and has the history that this market has. We've got three produce, three meat vendors and about 13 eateries inside. People
