For over 50 years and spanning three generations, the Baratta family has provided premium American-sourced meats to the Detroit metropolitan community as well as Michigan’s finest restaurants. Nationally, Fairway Packing Co. is the largest distributor of Piedmontese beef in addition to carrying elite varieties of meats, which are organic, sustainable and environmentally conscious. Fairway Packing Co. supervises production from start to finish in its 10,000 square-foot, USDA-inspected and HACCP-compliant facility along with a team of 55 employees. The company continues its original mission of supplying top-quality products, which are customized to meet our client’s specific needs with an unwavering commitment to highly-personalized service.


I'm the third generation meat purveyor at Fairway Packing Company out of the eastern market, Detroit, Michigan. At Fairway Packing has been custom meat purveyors for over 55 years. We've serviced the finest restaurants throughout the state of Michigan. My grandfather started the company. My father and my uncle took it over from him. And now the third generation is up as a second generation steps back. Growing up in this business, working alongside my dad, I saw him take care of Michigan's finest chefs. And I saw him take care of Michigan's best restaurants. And I saw the product and the proteins that were going out to these guys and the level of service and the level of quality my father wanted to represent. We focus on the finest brands of beef. We focus on h In order to get the best result and the best steaks possible, you have to start with the best beef. You have to start with the finest farms. One of the things that Fairway Packing has done is we've sought out the finest farms possible and selected the finest brands possible for us to represent. Went out to Creekstone Farms. Went to Nyman Ranch, Great Plains Beef, who has certified Piedmontese, and Imperial Wagyu. And we made that our top four selection. We wanted to target our clientele to be nothing but the best chefs. And there is, throughout the state of Michigan, some of the best chefs in the country. Invited every single one of those chefs, at one time or another, down to my plans so I could show them my family's passion and my team's passion for this business. A key part of this business is making your chefs aware and getting your chefs involved with the selection process and getting your chefs involved with the brands of beef and the brands of proteins that they're putting out on the plates in their dining rooms. We hand select every piece of meat, every muscle, everything that needs to be ground. It gets hand selected and custom cut for that chef, for that restaurant. We cut for chefs all week long, every day, to make sure every chef has the steaks that they want and the steaks that they need to become the best.
