Joe Valls is made of two shops in Brighton, a bridal store and a formal wear shop just across the street. The formal wear shop carries bridal and prom gowns and is now set to be closed by July. The owner is calling it a retirement sale as the main shop closes but their bridal wear shop across the street will stay open for appointments. Our Dan Groh spoke with owners to speak and learn about their plans. Kathleen Adams started Joe Valls originally in 2011. The name comes from her three children Jordan, Evan and Alexandra. She started the business to fill a need for her family. I have two daughters that we had searched for prom gowns. This was way back in 2010 and there was really nothing in Rochester so that inspired me to start a prom store which we did. That prom gown business grew into a store with bridal, prom and even men's formal wear and this location opened here in 2015. Adams has two locations on Monroe Ave, Joe Valls bridal and Joe Valls formal wear. We had probably the greatest selection around in upstate New York for prom and pageant. But all that success came screeching to a halt during the pandemic. They were closed for most of 2020 and business dried up with online shopping. All that meant it was time to close down this formal wear location. It was just the right time to do it to move to us back to our smaller location. She's calling it a retirement sale and she will be spending more time with the family that the stores were named after and to move the inventory out of the formal wear store a walk in sale starting today. And we're hoping to go through July so we'll see where that brings us. Once everything in the main store has been liquidated their bridal shop across the street will remain open by appointment only reporting in Brighton, Dan Gross, News 8. Alright Dan thank you and important to note Joe Valls will uphold all custom orders and services.
