A Top Notch Ball and Roller Outfit
Press fit bottom bearings, there's got to be a better way. One such better way is Enduro's line of torque tight bottom brackets. Here you walk us through the line and it's benefits Chuck Panicione. What's the benefit of the system and what are some of the specific models we have here, Chuck? So the benefit of the torque tight system is that it can be screwed together and mechanically fixed to the bike. The problem with current press fit system is that each cup can rock. Also the bearings can get out of alignment and it also causes excessive wear on the frame from the moving parts. We eliminate this by incorporating threads on both sides of the cup and having a center sleeve that all screws together. We have these tools that allow the bottom brackets to be screwed together into the frame and once adjusted there is no play or movement in the bottom bracket. Additionally it allows for a very good alignment of the crank axle through the bottom bracket. That's been an issue too because sometimes when one of the cups is a little cockied and you push the axle through the bottom bracket you can feel that it just doesn't feel right and then it excessively wears one of the bearings and eventually the shell. This takes care of it. Another side benefit is that for frames that already have PF30 shells that are too large which happens a lot this will fix a problem by clamping everything down and you can salvage the frame. When it comes in press fit 30 BB30 BB386 n Tell us a little bit about the bearings inside the system. You're one of the very few companies that makes your own bearings. So we have two different bearing offerings. One is just a 440C stainless. We actually developed that for the European market because it's corrosion resistant very tough and has low maintenance too. The other bearing that we have is our XD15 that's a nitrogen steel bearing made and the metal from the south of France. We make that all in house down from the races to the shells to even the retaining clips. We make everything in house and the reason why we do that is we want to have the maxim Additionally they're angular contact bearing so that means they can you can have a lot of side load on the bearing. So most people put too much side load on their cranks With this system it actually needs a significant amount of side load for it to work effectively. As a result the bearings last a whole lot longer. Additionally, XD15 is a lot less resistant to pitting and also cracking and the reason why is the nitrogen in the steel makes the metal more homogenous and free of large carbides on the surface. Carbide is just a fancy name for carbon so that's what causes the pitting and it just makes for a more durable bottom bracket all the way around. Enduro bearing is sweating the details and results nice tight quiet system while you ride. Thanks Chuck.
