For years, people have driven past the big bike tech sign along Vineville Avenue. Soon, it'll be moving to a new spot here in downtown Macon. Kayla Solomon spoke to a shop manager who says it's a change for the better. Since 1982, bike tech Macon lived over on Vineville Avenue. But now, starting this s It is a little scary to leave an iconic location More space. That's what a new location on Second and Arch streets is giving to staff for bike tech Macon. It's a move that shop manager Jim Langstaff says has been years in the making. I have a counter here, somewhere in here. Service, it took a while to find, Langstaff says it was around this time last year when more people began buying and fixing up their bikes because of COVID-19. He says that hasn't changed. It's just on the repair side. Langstaff says for sales bikes are getting sold as quickly as they're being brought in. Whether that's bikes, spike and that won't stop people having bikes that want to ride them and want them fixed. Here we have a lot more storage for service and even a garage door for drop-off service. But along with storage and repair space, Langstaff says the new location will also make it easier to partner with other Macon organizations to lead rides. You couldn'take off down Vineville to go for a bike ride. I had to go back in the neighborhood, which is a fun way to ride, but it was not ideal for making an easy ride for beginners. There were hills whichever way went. He adds that even though there is no official date at this time, you can expect the relocation to start in July reporting Macon, Kayla Solomon, 13 WMAZ News. Now Langstaff says for now you can still go to the Vineville location for any bike purchases or repairs.
