When most people picture trike, they're thinking Start your engines! Yeah! Or they're thinking of what we call a grocery getter here, which are the bikes you see in retirement communities with three wheels and a big basket on the back. And those are fine for some folks. We focus on here at the shop are rec They are lower to the ground than your typical adult trike. They're sportier, they're a lot more fun, and you're going to enjoy riding them greater distances than the traditional grocery getter. A rec It looks a little bit You can see very comfortable seats with a back cushion. It's much more comfortable, especially on long rides. You won't find you're getting stiff shoulders, sore wrists, butt's not going to hurt from the seat. And it's just really, really comfortable. It is so comfortable. It's In some cases the handlebar is up above, in some cases the handlebar is down by your hips. Is it easy to use? Yes, very easy to use. It's easy to ride? There's no learning curve on the trike, and they've got a big grin on their face because they don't have to learn a new way to ride and it's completely stable and they don't have to learn new balancing and steering things. Trikes have gears. Oh yes, yes. Most trikes these days have anywhere from 21 on up to 33 gears depending on the brand and the model. And the gears, they don't click, they just kind of go round one way and the other, nothing. Is it easier to go up the hills on the trike or a bike? Generally it's going to be a little easier on a conventional bike because you can cheat and stand up on the pedals and throw your body weight into it. And so you'll get up a hill a little bit quicker on a conventional bike. But the recombiners are designed with really wide ranges of gearing so you can just kind of sit back, relax and spin your way up the hill. You may not go as fast because you can'throw your weight into it. But you go faster than you would imagine. With the gears, they're very helpful on the hills. But of course you're not using your weight as you do with a regular bike. You're using your leg muscles only and pushing. And so you've got to add your weight plus the maybe 40 pounds of the bike so you're going to push that up the hill. I try to avoid very steep hills but I can still do them. On level ground and down hills recombiners are typically as fast or faster than a conventional bike. Because of the aerodynamics. If you think about it, you're so low to the ground you're not pushing your way through the air so much. On a conventional bike you're having to fight wind resistance a lot more. And with the trikes you can get flying on a downhill and not feel quite so scared. Because you've got three wheels. Are trikes only for the elder? Not at all. Not at all. My customer base ranges anywhere from people in their 30s on up. I decided on a trike which sounds All the young ones are using it. Somebody on a recombinant being older and infirm is not accurate at all. Now yes, a significant part of our market is people who are older or have special needs of some sort. Lots of people are riding them now just because they're fun. It's a different kind of riding experience. We highly recommend flags for safety so that people can see you. The interesting thing I find though is I've had a n And we're not exactly sure why that is. I think part of it comes down to they don't know what it is they're about to pass and want to give it plenty of room. I feel safe. Got a cute little bell. I'm loving it. It's wonderful. No other way. I could never go back to the cruise bike and watch in the sun and get to work out at the same time. There's never an excuse not to ride. Doesn't matter how old you are. There's a bike that will take you. you
