Block Bikes

Block Bikes

Located just 1/2 mile east of Costco (10th Street West and Ave L) - The Block Shop sets a whole new image of Bicycle retail. Our state of the art location is just under 5000 square feet and features a world class pro style bicycle fitting room offering BG Fit which is the fit system used by the winners on the Tour de France. That along with a 100" projection television will entertain and enhance your shopping experience. We have a huge bicycle display area featuring over 300 bikes along with a fully equiped service center. We have 5 different departments featuring road, mountain, bmx, helmets & shoes, and fixie/scooters along with an apparel section.

In a landscape that lends itself to various forms of physical activity, one local shop looks to conquer the roads using two wheels. That place is Block Bikes in Lancaster, California. While Block offers their patrons a solid selection of cycling apparel, equipment, and bikes for all forms of cycling, the shop also offers organized rides for locals wishing to enjoy the sport of cycling with other residents. While cyclists come for the physical challenge of these rides, they also come to these gatherings for the camaraderie. The lead man for these organized rides is Rich Barlett, owner of Block Bikes. Well, we created dynamics in our rides to where we can coexist. We roll out together socially and everybody's happy to talk. Everybody gets to ride their speed once we get going and everybody's happy at the end. One of those happy riders is Liz Rourke, a longtime patron and group member who serves as an inspiration for others. I started out just knowing my husband when we started and then we got to know the people at the shop and then people started coming out and the rides became more organized. Then we just started developing the friendships that you develop week after week. We have friends that we go out to dinner with a couple nights a week. We communicate about our rides. While the sense of community is clear and the friendships shine bright, these social opportunities aren't only for experienced cyclists. We have a ride that we do out of City Park and it's a cruise ride. It's a beach cruiser style ride. There's nobody, everybody's coming out there to cruise and talk and hang out and really look around while you're riding. You're going to neighborhoods, SunEye World Celebrities for that minute. It's just funny things I think it brings the sport forth, The Maribos just stopped eating ice cream and they're riding more. Just to watch the progression, to watch Liz go and do a 100 mile ride after losing a hundred pounds, That's what I want to see at 10. With many locals participating in these events, the group is hopeful that these rides will soon pedal away. For my AV, this is Ryan Rivas.
