Music Nearly 50% of all cyclists suffer from hand n Since the culprit behind tingling hands is the compression of the ulnar nerve, the solution is to put cushioning between the heel of your palm and the bars. This spreads compressive forces from the bike and reduces pressure on the ulnar nerve. We asked Dr. Roger Minkow to analyze how pressure varies with the hand positions you might use on curved road and straight mountain bars. His results allowed us to adapt distinct pad shapes and thicknesses for both road and mountain. The BG road padding is designed around the distinct hand position used on the curved road bar. The greater padding surface area distributes pressure broadly across the palm and ensures protection on the tops, the brake hoods and in the drops. Developed with Dr. Roger Minkow and race proven with our factory mountain team, our BG mountain padding uses more minimal protection than our road designs. We position two smaller, thinner pads at the heel of the hand to protect the ulnar nerve. This distributes pressure broadly across the palm, positioning the hand neutrally for greater bar control and less fatigue.
