Custom Bicycle Frames - Handmade in Fort Collins, Colorado
Welcome to Autodesk Cycles. I'm Sean Burns and this is my shop. I built custom bicycles, handmade here in Colorado, out of Cromale Steel and Titani Whatever you want, we'll make it almost anything you want. I have a background in art. I used to build skateboard ramps for the local skateboard shop. I've always loved to build things. I ended up working as an architect and draftsman for about 13 years, I think. So I was designing things all the time and not really getting to build them. And as an artist, I mean, you want your hands in all aspects of it. So at some point, I got burnt out on architecture and I was racing bikes at the time and thought, man, I could be designing this product that I'm actually riding and using and experienced with and building it and create a way to make a living for my family and I, and keep doing what I love to do all at the same time. I took a 10-day class with Carl Schlemowitz in New York. He is the builder behind Vicious Cycles and his frame building school is called Metal Guru. I moved to Colorado from Kansas City and worked with James at Black Sheep. He was a mentor type role where I was helping him out in the shop and learning from him. And then at some point down the road when I was ready to start my brand, he had extra space in his shop. Were roommates for five years. One side, Black Sheep on the other and he was very generous with information and help along the way get me going. Modern bikes have become kind of boring in my opinion as far as the looks. They all look the same. I'm trying to be different enough that there's an aesthetic about our brand that's a little more timeless. I'm really influenced by the old BMX bikes back when I was a kid or beach cruisers or the old Schwinn's. When I started this brand, one of my goals that I finally feel I don't want it to be about this giant poster fluorescent orange oddity in your face. I want this beautiful frame in your face and you're just Pretty stoked on that. .
