Blackstone Bicycles is a full service bike shop. We sell bikes, repair all makes and carry clothing and accessories. We also rent bikes!
We will work on any brand of bike! No bike snobbery here. If it's repairable we'll give it our best and try to get it to you back as quick as possible. Our typical repair turnaround is around a week, even in season. We carry KHS bicycles, Salsa, Surly, Transition as well as Ibis and Pivot. We also stock tools, parts, clothing and accessories from Endura, 661, Kali, Serfas, Raceface, Kenda, Rockshox, Fox, Five Ten, Surly, Maxxis and too much other stuff to list. We host a weekly mountain bike ride at Lincoln Woods every Wednesday, weather permitting!
Blackstone Bicycle Works was founded in 1994. It is a place that teaches kids in the neighborhood how to work. They have the opportunity to play, we mentor them. That's good, now just pull it. We teach them. These are kids from a very difficult neighborhood, very much at risk, and we provide a safe haven for them. They can earn their own bike by working 25 hours. But it's much more than just a repair shop. They're here and they get a reprieve, they get a break. They get, even if it's a break to do their homework and eat fruits, or just have an adult to talk to or exist in a safe space. So it provides a whole lot of stuff. You wouldn'think that would happen at a bike shop, but it totally does. It's kind of cool how it comes together. They can choose differently. They can go into the Marine Corps, they can go to college, they can do all sorts of wonderful things for their lives. It's fun. You're surrounded by a really awesome kid. I think that I could do anything and be anything that I want to be long as I believe that I can do it. Every day I wake up and I see what often comes to say, it's a good thing that I came here. It's a good thing that I changed. It's a good thing that events happened to me that pushed me towards the bike shop.
