Goldstar Barbershop

My name is Frank Saragosa and I'm the owner of Gold Star Barbershop here in Vicellant, California. The opening of this business started back in April, May of 2011. It was an idea that my wife and I had been entertaining for some years now. We brought back a service that was missing. There were some very well-known barbers, some great barbers. Those individuals left the legacy and the way I feel today from the feedback that I've been getting from them is that we're fulfilling that void that was left by those great barbers. Additionally, we knew that the city of Vicellia was lacking in employers. And so when we decided to build our business model, we elected, instead of having Booth and the City of Vicellia, we decided to rent out our own employees and create jobs for them. And because of that idea, were lucky enough to hire seven new employees. I learned about the SBDC through various publications. I know they offer training here in the city of Vicellia. I also have a sister-in-law who participates in a local business. And through her recommendation, I did a little bit more research. She helped me in finalizing my decision. Their impact was huge. At first, I placed a very simple phone call and I met my business coach. When we sat down, we talked about what my vision was, what my goals were. She basically laid out a path for me. And from that, it was just a matter of reaching one little goal to the next, to the next. And it was through little steps that we managed to build this very nice corporation. If you notice, our emblem has five stars. And that is a very high expectation that I placed for myself, that I placed for my employees. I want to be that five-star barbershop that everyone wants to go to. I want everyone to feel the experience of what it is to be back in the 1940s and get that superior service. I want to thank SBDC for being there for us. I want to thank everyone. Everyone's just been so great. Their strong attitude, their strong vision has carried me through today. Thank you.
