K Squared Cupcakes

So my name is Winter Areef owner of K Squared Cupcakes and the name comes from my two daughters Kennedy and Cameron Areef from a very young age. I have absolutely loved baking. My mother used to on the side bake for people and saw her cakes and she would have me in that kitchen baking with her. And I always from that point loved it and I wanted to go to culinary school to be a pastry chef. But thinking about what other people thought and what they thought would be studious I went ahead and I went to college. I was a scholar student so I received a full right scholarship to go to Norfolk State University, behold. And so I studied political science with a concentration in public administration. From there again I still wasn't fulfilled and I still had the desire to go to culinary school but again I had the opportunity to get my master's degree and so I went along with that as well. My mother had a 50th birthday party and my sister and I decided to do a surprise party and so we did I did the desserts for the party and from there people went bananas over the desserts bananas and from there I started receiving orders and really that is where K Square was birthed. It got to the point where I received so many orders that I had to make a decision whether or not I was going to bake or I was going to continue in corporate America and I took that leap of faith I said no longer will I worry about what other people thought and that I would walk and live in my dream and I left corporate America left all of that behind great salary great benefits and everything to pursue my dream as a baker and I have been in business for 10 years has it been easy absolutely not but I don't regret one day of it and so that is K Square'story and my story does not end and will not end we've been blessed so many opportunities been on the food network twice cupcake wars and chopped sweets and we got to represent the Hampton Rose area really well and but my long-term vision is to create a pastry school for underprivileged teenagers specifically those who have been in the foster care system so that is my heart that is my dream that is my vision and I really that is my end game so that's what I want to do I want to be impactful not just be out there just to make money but to actually impact someone's life so that's K Square story and I hope your heart was blessed by it and we just thank you for this opportunity bye
